now why was my hometown mentioned on page 192

i keep reading different perspectives around people with dementia and it's kind of tough but kind of beautiful. it's so interesting how everyone's mind is always unknowable to others but how the increasing inability to share what is on one's mind exacerbates every issue people already have with communication to others.

i didn't read the entire nytimes book review (just the headline, actually) but about a third of the way in I do see why that headline was chosen, wow!

kind of wild to read this as someone from upper appalachia (where coal mining died in the 1960s, if we're being generous, rather than where it is still ongoing) because emilee's (not religious, thankfully) experience is reminiscent of my mother's generation's, their parents avoiding coal mining but often being overworked and underpaid in an economy that is quickly de-industrializing without new prospects emerging

making me want to watch oppenheimer again

i have like three books that are past due at the library, my reading will (in theory) be less chaotic once I finish and return them.

you'll never believe this but talking heads were mentioned for the THIRD TIME

talking heads mentioned AGAIN

another day, another talking heads reference

not to update again so soon but talking heads referenced

it's funny how she's already trying to downplay her wealth (which i get because i definitely don't generally care about the struggles of rich people lol)

talking heads reference
