I'm only 50 pages in, but man Stephen King can write. The narration on the audiobook is also excellent.

I haven't tried reading a Stephen King novel since High School with The Stand (which I DNF'd). Horror is not for me. But when I heard that he wrote a time travel, historic fiction novel, I just HAD to read it.

This book is ridiculous. The only reason I haven't DNF'd is because I'm so close to being done with it.

This is very heavy-handed about climate change and a lot of the content is very dramatic. Several of the characters are so hyperbolic that it's hard to take them seriously at times.

I don't think this author's style is for me. I would have dnf'd by now, but it's a relatively short audiobook and I am genuinely curious what happened on the island.

Honestly not sure if this book is for me. Some of the writing is too heavy-handed and "poetic" for my liking. That said, I am intrigued...

I didn't realize this was such a short book. Time for me to read it (well, listen to it).

I agree with other reviewers that say there are too many names being thrown around and too much focus on the Taliban and the US gov is the grander scheme of the war. I was really hoping for a deeper dive into Bowe Bergdahl's experience and the controversy surrounding it all.

It kind of feels like the author realized the book wasn't long enough w/ the focus on Bowe, so he added in the other info.

I have a really strong background in this war and in the region more generally, so I'm finding some of the background with the war and the geo-strategic/political considerations to be rather dry and uninteresting. Partly because I already know a lot of this, but also because the author isn't doing the best job of tying it all together.

I think this book could be a bit shorter.

Enjoying this so far. My biggest takeaway is that Bowe Bergdahl was a moron and maybe special needs? Whatever the case, he should never have been allowed to join the military.

I'm not usually a nonfiction reader, but I've heard great things about this book. I'm only 10% into the audiobook and it's decent so far. The narrator is doing a fine job and you can tell a huge amount of research has gone into this book. I'm not bored yet and that's a huge achievement.

Re-reading this as an adult after seeing a glowing review from another reader. Like most people, I read this in middle school and found it impactful at the time, but haven't bothered to pick it up since.

I agree with the other reviewer that it hits different as an adult. There's quite a lot of Scout's narration that you miss as a kid, but pick up on as an adult. It makes for an excellent reading experience.

Unfortunately my book was returned to the library before I could finish it, so waiting for it to be available again (it's already been 2 weeks). That said, this book just hasn't been as engaging as the previous 3. I don't care for Perrin and the introduction of various romances aren't working for me. I find the romantic aspects to be old school insta-love and very unbelievable. Tracking at a 3.5 so far.

This book is much slower for me than the previous ones. I think it's because it's primarily following Perin and I find him to be the least interesting character in the cast.

I know that this is the best book in the series for a lot of people, but it's not working for me as well as the first three books (at least so far). I'm not super into the dream stuff. I think it would be fine if it was just Egwene but having it be Perrin too and then getting the dream-like sequences in Ruidien...it's just a lot.

The narration is still superb though!

Just as enjoyable as the previous books. I'm quite invested in the characters.

Rosamund Pike's narration is superb and I'm desperate for her to narrate the rest of the books.

I am absolutely loving Rosamund Pike's narration of these books. I really really hope she continues to narrate them as I find the story so much more engaging with her reading compared to the earlier audiobooks which were much more flat.

The story itself is compelling and with the narration, the characters really come alive. I'm really invested in what happens to the characters.

I'm finding this book to be quite a challenge to get into, but the story seems to be finally moving now. Still really loving the voice of the narrator and honestly, it's probably the only reason I've continued.

Need to find more books with this narrator.

The audiobook narration is excellent. I really love the narrator and his tone of voice; it's such a comforting listen.

As for the book itself, it's a bit of a rough start. The author just throws you into the middle of things and you have one character introduction after another. It makes it quite a challenge to get into because it's hard to remember who and there's not one person for you to really latch on to.

Not loving this one so far. I picked it up because I loved the synopsis but the story so far feels shallow. At least the audiobook is listenable for this one, unlike One Dark Window.

Still really enjoying this story. I'm becoming more and more invested and find the world fascinating. Brandon Sanderson is an excellent author, but I feel like the one area where his writing isnt as strong is characters. Dont get me wrong, each character is distinct, you understand their motivations, they have depth...but there are also some very black and white elements that make them feel clumsy and less realistic.

I'm loving this.

I think the only things that I'm not enjoying are the narration (which I knew was subpar after listening to the first book) and the rapid development of Shallan's character. I just find some of the events hard to believe with regards to her character. I also cringe a bit every time Kal has an existential crisis about keeping his men safe. Otherwise, it's great.

I've really enjoyed most of this book, but I gotta say I do not give a shit about the romance. Romantasy is definitely not for me.

The first 70% of this book is just a fantasy drama that is wildly entertaining, but now that the romance has been introduced, I'm worried that the author will put the romance over everything else. I like fantasy romance, not romantasy.

This has never really appealed to me, but it was available on Libby and I'm still waiting for my other holds to become available.

The audiobook is good, the story is fast-paced. It's fun but kind of over the top. It's like the TV show, Married at First Sight...not in the content, but just in that kind of fun, dramatic popcorn entertainment.
