Teck is finished with Getting Somalia Wrong?: Faith, War and Hope in a Shattered State (African Arguments)
Short book (not much new for careful African watchers), however does dispel most myths about the situation in Somalia. Has the benefit of being up to date with al-shabaab's emergence and subsequent disposition.

Easy read, promising title but pretty basic analysis of Saudi Arabia. This along with really poor and awkward metaphors "[being] Casper the friendly ghost" while sitting in the backseat of a car veiled? Makes no sense. Nothing you wouldn't get out of a BBC documentary on the subject.

At Jordan's military failures. Starting to read very similarly to "Crusades from Arab Eyes" due to the similar points of failure in Arab responses to common threats.

Teck is 12% done with China - The Political Philosophy of the Middle Kingdom
Bai Tongdong argued that modernity was the fundamental concern of early Chinese philosophy - seems contradictory at first glance, but Bai has made good points so far.

“Society appear to subject, every now and then, to periods of moral panic." Cohen's opening statement in the book formed the theoretical basis of my honours thesis.
