Not sure why it's taken me so long to start reading this. Excellent so far.

Okay, this is really starting to fall apart for me. The hero has no redeeming qualities. He's a selfish prick who pities himself so goes on binges of destruction, and not only self-destruction. I'm not sure if I'm going to finish it. I enjoyed the movie much, much, much, MUCH better. You were a bit more removed from the character. Being inside a crazy dude's head is not fun. Disturbing. Not in a good way.

It's a page turner. I had to laugh at the rebel leader's name being "Obi" and him talking about "striking back". I wonder if that Star Wars reference was intentional.

I like the story. I can't figure out why half of the action is told in retrospect. "Last night Barrons did this and he said "stuff in italics". Now I'm getting dressed and freaking out over my hair color and reflecting on good stuff that happened last night, but you, the reader, don't get to see that action first-hand, just in my introspective thoughts." It really decreases the punch. Are they all written this way?
