I like the story. I can't figure out why half of the action is told in retrospect. "Last night Barrons did this and he said "stuff in italics". Now I'm getting dressed and freaking out over my hair color and reflecting on good stuff that happened last night, but you, the reader, don't get to see that action first-hand, just in my introspective thoughts." It really decreases the punch. Are they all written this way?

I had a hard time getting into Darkfever as well. But once you do, you are hooked!

It's been awhile since I read them, but I think this first one is the only one that is written this way. This is a fabulous series though! I loves me some Barrons!
