In the home stretch now. I can do it! Book 7 Time Regained. The edition I'm reading has a different translator for this book. Stephen Hudson, the pseudonym of Sydney Schiff. Just a bit of trivia, but the change did make a difference for me. But, the home stretch is still the best of the lot. And a time to bid farewell to all the characters. Almost sad after all the time we've been together.

Ah, much better now. Recovering or recovered from Albertina episode. More characters reappearing. And we're in Venice now.

Read a few of the first pages of the preview and jumped on the bargain price. However, I think I'll start in earnest after I finish what is already open.
The pages are numbered from high to low. I'm currently on pg 961 of 965 though. It's an intentional numbering not an error.

Just discovered this book. And just started it. Surprised by how so few words on a page say so much. Memories tempered by time.

OK. I'm getting back into this again. The pace and all the observations. The social intrigues and manipulation. Takes a while. This event with Morel and ensemble performing takes nearly as long to read as the event itself lasted. Or seems so. Think I can do this now.

Now I remember why I put this down. The unending chatter of the social sets and rules and who's not really who. Blah blah blah. It's bound to run out soon I keep thinking.

Nearly finished, but just beginning too. A synthesis of years of experience with people, art, language and that which this book calls Source. Still trying to discover why and how this book speaks so clearly to me.

Still soaking this in. Here's a couple of lines that stopped me in my tracks
"The creator stops being the creator once they finish the work. They then become the viewer. And the viewer can bring as much of their own meaning to a piece as the creator." (249)

Picked this up again after giving it a rest. Have to wonder why, but I'll stick with it for a while. Apparently commas were his favorite punctuation mark. Currently rambling around about Charlus and Morel's associations while standing on a doorstep waiting to be admitted to an engagement.

I wish I'd had this book in my hands long ago. For me, it's the encouragement and advice that I needed back when and didn't receive. Just finished a section on choosing and developing an idea or inspiration told through the metaphor of seeds. Simple example, but one that worked.
For me, at least.
BTW Check out who Neil Strauss is. He's on the title page and it matters. Makes this book doubly interesting.

This is just so amazing. So real. I am so glad I stumbled into this book. The Camino is more than a long hike thru Spain.

Picked this up just because... not sure why but it doesn't matter. Love the style and those crazy little aside type comments. Never heard of the Camino. Never heard of this author either. Guess I need to get out more. Anyway, the opening had me immediately. So now I'm going on their walk with them. The author and his wife.

Just got my own copy and starting over with it. Yeah, I did that because I think it's worth it. I'll check in again when I catch up to where I was in the library copy.

OK, I'm tracking with author now. And he's got all kinds of good stuff, helpful stuff to say. I'm reading a library book, but I'm going to get my own copy so I can mark it up. And revisit it whenever I like. He covers a lot of ground that isn't just for artists.

Whoa! Need to recalibrate to get what's happening with this book. I expected something of a more cozy academic scientific personal presentation. Nope. Ok. More like snippets from a guru of sorts to ponder. I'm just trying to reset before I continue.

It's King, but not with all the creepy stuff, mostly. So far. But leave to him to find a dust bunny with fangs that's coming for you or someone else in the room. And who knows what's out there in the next few pages.
This one contains some real life story material and does it well. Not an unnecessary word. Would that part of the tribe increase!

This is so much more than I'd expected, in a good way. And this is a debut? Be a hard one to follow, but the author is obviously quite talented.

Wasn't too sure about this one. I'd read a bit of the sample ebook a while back and it didn't work for me. Now though, it's got me hooked. (Just proved my mood makes a difference.)
And yes, Sybil does seem like a formidable personality. So far. That I image will change or solidify as the book goes on.

Besides the font being italics (publisher's or author's idea?) and hard for me to read, the story was a bit strange. A myth of sorts of a man chasing his destiny to be a lead (mineral) miner/merchant. All the while knowing it would poison him. Guess I'm supposed to see the meaning in the narrative. Liked the less fabled narratives better. So far anyway.

Not what I expected, and it requires more attention than some books, at least to get started. Beginning to understand how it's built now. First chapter was rather scattered. I had some difficulty following it. Next two went more smoothly. So have to think the first one was intended to be as it was.

I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the movie made from it. I enjoyed the author's way of combining fun, silly stuff with super serious stuff. I enjoyed the sciency discussions, and I enjoyed most of his political commentary. Yep, this was a good read to relax with and just enjoy. I will probably enjoy some of other titles as well.
Yes, I once wanted to walk the AT. Close as I got was a sign pointing to it.

Thoroughly enjoying this and watching Bilbo grow in his role.

Second Graham Greene for me. And this one was written as a book, not for screen. It's just a nice kick back and read sort of work. Aunt Augusta is quite character. Her nephew is beginning to grow on me now. Extremes of the scale. Enjoying it so far.

This takes off and keeps on moving forward. Wish I had read this a long time ago. And even if this is from the 90s it's still relevant. I guess nothing new under the sun includes my time on this planet, too.

A re-read and I had forgotten how well written this is. Enjoying the time with it again. About to enter Mirkwood with dwarves and Bilbo. Gandalf has gone to take care of business elsewhere. They are on their own now.

It's Murakami, so I had to read it, even though I'm not a fan of short stories. So far these have held my interest and had me thinking a little after I'd finished. That's an accomplishment in itself. One of them, An Independent Organ, was quite touching. And no, that organ isn't want you think. ;)

Just discovered the copy I'm reading has a few more pages than the one shown. Oh well. The seriousness bordering on sadistic stuff has been replaced with a more crazy set of events now. Seems as if the our favorite time traveler has engineered a new social idea for earth and is calling it a religion. Lots of toes gonna stepped on soon I predict. We'll see if I'm right.

Hmm. Got serious on me and I was enjoying the craziness. Oh well. See how it works out. Too far in to quit.
