I need some help!
The acute inpatient psych facility I work at has a small library for the teen patients. The books tend to go missing a lot. Right now the lgbtq shelf is completely empty. I need to put some books on the wish list for our upcoming book drive, but they have to be okay for teens with severe anxiety and depression, so nothing about self harm, suicide, assault, sex on page, etc. Give me some ideas!

My 2025 reading challenge shows I have already read 3 books this year (Author Unknown). I have not. Apparently, as of this year, Goodreads now automatically counts all the fanfics I read on my kindle towards my reading goal. Torn between manually deleting all the fanfics from my goal all year (tedious, but accurate) and getting to boggle at the number of fanfics I manage to devour when "taking a break".

Almost halfway and I still can't figure out WTF is going on and how the contradictions with the first book can be explained. But every time I think about giving up I find myself reading another chapter so I guess I'll keep plugging along.

Expecting slow progress with this one.

Plant so far in a non earth shattering way.

On one hand the language here is full of Gen Z slang which will be dated in a decade, otoh I've had to use the kindle dictionary several times despite reading in English for 40 odd years now. It's giving me whiplash.

Not my cup of tea. Everyone sucks in some way and is violent about it and I don't find that interesting.

This book may be too much for me. My reading preferences have taken a sharp turn towards the light and entertaining ever since I started working in a psych hospital. This book is, definitely not that. I knew that going in, but I may have been too optimistic about my ability to handle it. I'm going to let it rest for a couple of days, then see how I feel about continuing.

DNF at 24%. I think my job in a psych hospital makes it hard for me to see the funny side of trauma and anxiety. Kudos to Lawson fir having gotten to the point where she can present this as comedy. But it doesn't land for me.

Almost done, but not sure if I will continue with volume 2. Nothing much happens, lots of talking, lots of repetition. I'm bored.

Seventy percent (and roughly 10 hours reading) in and we have finally been introduced to who the end boss is going to be. Could have happened a little sooner!

I don't know if it's me and maybe I am just plowing through these too fast, but this book just seems to drag. It first reads like a giant epilogue to the previous book and I now i am almost halfway through and I still not experiencing more than a mild sense of urgency. I know Aras is going to go off the rails at some point and I am assuming Tasmakat will be involved, but she has yet to show up.

Rereading this because I remember wanting a sequel and 15 years after publication a sequel has materialized! And because this is not 4 ginormous grrm tomes, I am happy to do a reread before tackling the sequel. I had forgotten how completely bonkers this book is, and I am quite happy to be reminded.

Grim chapter about the world wars and their effects on the beaches in Oostende and further north.

Flawless heroes are boring, so is hero worship. As far as I can remember from my Greek classes 35 years ago Achilles had anger issues and Patrocles wasn't a push over. I don't get the feeling the characters are going to develop that way. Tempted to dnf.
