This is brilliant but also it's hitting a little different now that I know the author later suffered intensely even getting amputations because of his diabetes. Watching him (well, his character) eat only oranges and cookies is like a horror movie to me

I don't really understand this book. It seems to be just like a light-hearted comedic story about a man who lives with his mother and they bicker all the time.

Why does it make me laugh so hard when people throw chairs at each other???? I mean it wouldn't be funny in a real life DV situation but we all know it's a staple of WWE smackdowning which apparently was invented as soon as chairs existed

Oh dang, the Dawn stuff at the beginning of chapters...Woolf does that in The Waves! I guess the only way to learn about literature is to just read all the literature.

Had to grab this and start reading to cleanse my brain from the trash I was trying to read that didn't make any sense. It's very nice to read a book like this where you don't even have to think about it because it's just so good. It's fully prepared and you can just send it directly into your brain. You don't even have to chew.

This book is too stupid for me

I've totally read this before but it's been a while. Ray Bradbury is just a man in 1950 writing this. I got pretty mad when the main male character gets dazzled by the manic pixie teenage girl and then it talks about how much his wife sucks. But it's turning around! I think! Like I'm not saying I need all stories to treat women as people instead of accessories to the main character but like.. I'm just sensitive rn

I don't know what it means, but the books with reputation for being difficult or confusing to glom onto are for me the only easy books to read. I can't even get through a couple sentences of Nora Roberts without a massive migraine and a meltdown but this is so easy... Just inject it directly into my veins. So so good.

This book would have been better for me to do on paper (I'm trying audiobooks starting with this one) because it's so slow and horrifying. Also im so bad at understanding information when it is spoken. This book is very very upsetting

I thought of myself as someone pretty hip to medical misogyny but wow. I was not expecting to hear so many new and upsetting things. This book literally gave me nightmares last night so I hope I finish it today and then move on to something with kitties and rainbows and unicorns because holy shit

This is going very slowly because my brain is in the process of becoming a sober brain instead of a extremely drunk 24/7 brain. So it's like I'm trying to ride the bicycle but I keep tipping over. My brain legs just can't remember how to keep up correctly. Dystonia of the mind, etc. I am tired. Too tired. Like a bicycle. A bicycle that can't go.

Incredibly depressing. I'm not even sure if it's all autism at this point with me. I'm so depressed that I have no roles to fill and can't imagine one for myself again and even if someone hired me to play one for a million bucks a day I don't think i could do it. I've been an honest fool and died an honest death. This world had no place for me. Truly sorry it took so long but i got the message finally!

Candidey! Condeedee? I miss being beautiful and witty and agile and in short alive. I can't believe how fast I am dying and I can't believe no doctor will save me. I am going home sooner than anticipated. I will be glad to. My progress on this book is slowing down because I'm going blind? I can only see out of one eye and only partially. No idea what that's about. Sucks though
