AUTHOR PSA: Stop fucking using "running the gauntlet" wrong! It does NOT mean what you think it means: If you run the gauntlet, you go through an unpleasant experience in which a lot of people criticize or attack you.

When an author does a flashback/jump back in time, I wish they would ask themselves "will this move my plot FORWARD, or is this just a word-filler to reach a word goal?"

If it's the first, consider a different way to incorporate the information, if it's the latter, AVOID AT ALL COST!

Authors who think they can get on their high horse and tell readers that unless you give 3 or more stars, you shouldn't review. Fuck. You. If I wanna scathing 1 stars, I'll bloody well give VERY scathing 1 stars, just because that's what the book inspires me to do.

Sometimes I find an author that I'd like to check out. Looking at their booklist, they have a lot of books, and a lot of series I can dig into. But when I look closer, I see that it's an umpteenth spinoff, and there are about 50 books I should read first. This stops me from buying the books. Authors who have interconnected series often scare away new readers. It just gets too daunting to even start.

If you haven't read a book, why do you go out of your way to 1-star it and leave a non-review? Is being a troll that important to you? You just have to bring down the average of the book? To what end? What is your goal here? To engage the author or another reader? Are you so bored you're looking for a fight anywhere? I don't get you.

I hate that vacuum between a good book/series of books you've just finished, and the next good book/series. It's an feeling of empty where you're still stuck in the world you've just been reading, and already thinking about "what do I want to read now?" without quite knowing what to pick up next.

Who else feels like they have to rush the reading just as something bad is happening to make sure the protagonists aren't suspended in the middle of a scary scene while you go about your own life?

Moving on to re-reads. I need to read something I know I love.

The phrase "..beautiful to him/her/me" is is truly a weird one. If you're beautiful to only that one person, does that mean you're ugly as fuck to the rest of the world? Why isn't it "beautiful"? Plain and simple. Being beautiful to just one person is kind of insulting, no?

Eh... Am I the only one who's not completely taken with this book? I'm a 3rd through, and frankly, don't care what happens to the characters... I quickly scrolled by and skimmed the reviews - I just don't see what the other's have in this book. It's boring as hell. And right now, it won't get more than 1 or 2 stars from me... I just don't understand the fawning over this one.

I hate being in a book-vacuum. I need a new book to read. I hate feeling lost with not knowing what to read next.

Kind of glad to be done with book 2. The 1500-something period lasted too long for me. I was missing the rest of the characters desperately.

Wondering if I should read a short book to keep up with the reading challenge before I read the third book in All Souls Trilogy...

I'm reading a book 3 times the size of a regular book. I ought to get 3 reading credits for this book alone... :D

Seriously though. Life has kind of taken over, and I only have time to read in the evenings in bed before falling asleep. I love this book. Instead of stressing over the reading challenge and how behind I am, I'll just savor the book as long as I can.

Misunderstand me correctly, but for lack of a better way to say it... I'm kinda glad these books aren't "sullied" by over-descriptive smut scenes. These books are more. These books somehow feel like home.

*sigh* I skip so many books, and they all begin with "I..." - I really, really hate books written in 1st person. One of the very few exceptions I make is if I know the author from before and if I like their writing. I've been burned too many times by "I..." books to take chance on authors I don't know. Too much navel-gazing and they tend to be incredibly one dimensional.

When you're at that point in the book where you want to keep reading but can't with all the suspense and it would have been easier if it was a movie. *nail biting moment*

Around page 128/location 1531 on Kindle it says: "If he'd had a scratch, he'd gotten it itched..." me THINKS the author might have meant "If he'd had an itch, he'd gotten it scratched..." :D :D :D :D :D

Why oh why oh why can't authors learn the difference between "onto" and "on to" already????? It doesn't matter how much Word underlines "on to" with green. There is a bloody difference. Word is stupid and it's making people stupid. Brush up on your grammar already! #petpeeve

"Put the fear of God into her" does not mean what you think it means, dear author. It does not mean being afraid FOR her boyfriend, that would mean being afraid OF her boyfriend. This was a major hit AND MISS!

The London Tube does NOT roar onto the platform. You can perfectly fine continue talking while the Tube is coming and going. Also, people in London know how to behave, not even tourists push their way onto the trains while people are disembarking. They wait politely until their turn to embark. Seriously. Do some research. This book was going well at first so I bought 2nd and 3rd book, regretting it now.

This book is set in London. I don't think the author has ever visited London - the Black Cabs don't have a trunk, and the ride from Heathrow to Central London in one of those is batshit crazy expensive. Write what you know and know what you write, seems to be a good idea. Also, research is your friend! Don't just assume! Details do matter, especially if your readers have "been there, done that" you know?

I wish authors would learn the difference between "onto" and "on to" already. From Oxford Dictionary: "The preposition onto meaning 'to a position on the surface of' has been widely written as one word (instead of on to) since the early 18th century, as in: He threw his plate onto the floor. ... Remember, though, that you should never write on to as one word when it means 'onwards and towards'."

Seems like every other book I read has the phrase "...the French refer/s/ed to orgasm as La petite mort, the little death..." Authors, time to put this one to rest, you're just repeating each other ad nauseum.

It's some incredibly sloppy writing when an American author butchers a European language (German in this case) to the point of no recognition. This wasn't even phonetically close! Not only do I have to dredge through horrid grammar, typos and misuse of words (it's English, YOUR language, learn it already), but now I have to live with the same authors trying their hands at German and French and whatnot. **shudders**
