I couldn’t figure out why my reviews no longer show up based on number of likes. Ever since I was banned by Amazon for somehow violating their rules, my reviews get put at the end of the line, no matter how many people have liked them. I reached out to GR and they said they have a “secret sauce”. And obviously, it includes pissing off their owner.

Has anyone else noticed that GoodReads seems to have played around with how they order reviews? When the filter is set to “most popular”, It no longer seems to be by number of likes/comments.

So Goodreads now no longer emails reviewers when someone likes or comments on their review. I can see the notice on GR that someone has liked a review but not if they’ve commented on it. So, please accept my apologies in advance if I miss one of your comments.

What has Goodreads done now? I’m no longer getting ANY notifications even after updating my preferences as they’d somehow deleted all of them. So apologies if I don’t respond to your comment.

Anyone else unable to comment on their own reviews this morning?

Feeling a little chuffed with myself. As of today, I’ve completed my 1000th review for Netgalley.

Wow! Some great books in the Best of 2021 Awards, especially in the Mystery and Thriller category. I had to make some really hard choices. Can’t wait to see how others vote.

I know I would love this book if I were reading it, too. But Tom Hanks is such a marvelous narrator that he's taking it to a whole different level.

I see reviews that have only some of it "blacked out" with a note for a spoiler alert. How does one do that without hiding the entire review?

Great article in the NY Times concerning reading a book vs. listening to one. This is something that fascinates me as I find certain books work much better one way or the other and that the opposite is also true.

I guess I’ve been lucky to date not to have someone blast me because I didn’t care for a book. But my luck just ran out. I love how people think they have the right to malign you and call you a simpleton just because you didn’t like a particular book.

I’m setting this aside for now. It’s supposed to be humor and if it’s there, I’m missing it. Thinking it may just be suffering in comparison to my last audio book.

Anybody else getting people posting “ads” in the comments section of your book reviews? It’s bad enough I get Robocalls on the phone. Now this? Really? Argh!

I’ve just the best book review. “You long for the existence of a sharp garden implement. Not a machete, necessarily, but a pair of pruning shears.” How often have I thought exactly that! Good work, Sara Lyall.

Can anyone explain the difference between being a top reviewer and a best reviewer? Thanks.
