I see reviews that have only some of it "blacked out" with a note for a spoiler alert. How does one do that without hiding the entire review?

Do you mean, tactically, how? Just insert the spoiler characters right where the spoiler is. If you mean, why, because there’s no reason to hide any content that isn’t a spoiler, but again, I may be missing or misinterpreting your point. Que?

I on,y see a box I can check to hide the entire review.
It's < spoiler> type the text you want to hide < /spoiler> but leave out the spaces I have put between the < and >
