I’ve finished Betty’s story. Another considerably older, wealthy doctor who’s vague about his feelings, but this time our very competent heroine isn’t put-upon with at least one dead parent, which is a nice change.

I’ve never heard of the author of the second story, but I’m going to read it anyway.

When I have other things I need to do (e.g., sleep, be wife/mom, work, etc.), I limit myself to one chapter each time I open a Kingfisher book because she’s just *so good*.

I now have Burney and Radcliffe collections on my not-a-kindle (suck it, bezos) e-reader.

As the author intends, I am making a list of books I need to read as a result of reading this one.

The wealthy/powerful have always sucked.

This book is excellent but so painful to read right now because we’re in the stupidest, most racist US timeline.

I feel like this is a book that is going to make me sad and furious.

Judith is kind of a holier-than-thou bitch, and I don’t like her. For the author’s (and the book’s) sake, I hope this changes.

I expected more of this collection, tbh.
