I have to take this book slow, it’s dark.

Writing this in 2025 when our current President’ slogan is “Make America Great Again,” not quoting Butler on page 16……

I’m in awe of this book. I feel I’ll have to read it again and again before I can have a good understanding of it.

Octavia Butler is a true genius. I feel fully immersed in this book and cannot put it down.

Flying through this book, I cannot put it down.

Was hooked from the prologue

Brooklyns chapter was sad

Finally, kinda getting into the book more

Makes me furious

I can’t imagine the frustration of not being heard because of the way you look or your accent or having to be prepared to leave everything behind at any second. Such a terrible life to live and our government intentionally makes it difficult 😡

I loved this recent chapter. Lauren is teaching Earthseed and building it with strangers. The last few chapters have been so dark and the end of chapter 18 they are all relaxed and eating and enjoying each others company and making light of the dark times.

Phenomenal and terrifying

Wow…this book is already hitting too close to home. Ch 2 and Lauren has asked every question about God that I have asked. The fact that a hurricane killing 700 people was projected to be a big incident back in 1990s when this happens so often now that we are actually in the 2020s. Octavia is a genius and I’m just getting started.
