was looking to make an account on storygraph and saw they use a "machine learning AI" that "is like your trusted go-to friend for book recommendations."........... can someone recommend a site akin to gr/storygraph that does NOT use ai in this manner........................................

how is haymitch himself foreshadowing “deadly” repercussions for his stunt with lou lous corpse and then the only ACTUAL repercussions are tiny taser butterflies that don’t have any lasting negative effect AND he conveniently lands in the gas plants while running from them AND his excuse for following them is shitty but holds up AND he finds a branch to stick in the berm hole without the gamemakers noticing…

like this weird… humanisation of twelve compared to every other district just makes one so uncomfortable… it never made sense to me anyway that allllllll of district twelve knows each other and has one (1) town and one (1) school but it’s just. to show eleven just leave into their room but twelve hugs it out one last time… sure, man. sure.

it’s genuinely incredible to me how unrealistic the social commentary is in this book. and i don’t mean actual critique, i mean the baffling simplicity of the implied social structures. suzanne knows full well most people reading these prequels will be now-adult readers of the original trilogy. how is she making the world feel so much more banal and un-real… where did all her craft go…
