was looking to make an account on storygraph and saw they use a "machine learning AI" that "is like your trusted go-to friend for book recommendations."........... can someone recommend a site akin to gr/storygraph that does NOT use ai in this manner........................................

you can disable the storygraph AI btw in account preferences. and they state that the feature uses as much power as a gaming pc and runs on 100% renewable energy. and since its an inhouse thing your data is totally private.
@ urwa the problem with “the data is private” is that it’s private until they decide to sell it… it definitely sounds less fucked up than their initial paragraph on it describes it (and i wish they would share this information!!!) but id much rather they would develop a community recommendations feature where someone (a real person!) interested in your genre can give you recs so we can have more interaction between humans about books rather than listening to a bot.
