I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. I'd heard of "the girl on the swing" from the musical Ragtime, and a little bit about this crime of the century, so I thought I knew the story. I was wrong. There's so much to it and how the court case evolved is still shocking. A really interesting read, and told with moments of fictive description that lifts it out of dry non-fiction into a vibrant story.

Such an exciting continuation of the series! Love it!

Book two...and...it might be even better than the Fool's Gold series. Heartwarming, funny, all the good stuff. And guys that blow glass. I mean, guys that are glass blowers. That probably sounds better. I loved that some Fool's Gold characters made a brief appearance in this one. Felt like home. ;)

Currently narrating!

1/3 through narrating this fun mystery with 1980s New York as the setting with all the grime, grit, and gruesome characters. Loving it!

I think I'm getting a fangirl crush on Rune, the protagonist of this series. The book was originally published in the 80s, but it doesn't feel dated. It feels authentic. I love all the details about New York in the 80s. Rune works in a video store (and even those details are terrific) and is swept into an adventure with murder, mayhem, and money. Loving this.

Currently reading just for fun!

I'm still in the land of Akaria narrating this week. A big battle has just happened and all my magic use is exhausting me. ;)

I'm so delighted to be back in this world!

I just finished this delightful cozy mystery. I don't get to do too many accents while narrating so I especially love giving Dirk his Scottish brogue, Murphy the Irish lilt, and Moira her Southern drawl. The characters are colorful, the plot fun, and it's such a great little comforting escape. Well, as comforting as a story with a wee murder in it can be. :)

My son wanted me to read this since he read it in 5th grade and was so moved by it. But I'm having trouble since so much of what is happening seems to reflect what's happening now. Gah!

A slow build but now...holy cow!!! What's going to happen next?

A little heat, a little action and adventure, and a whole lot of fun. Yay!

You know when you finish a book and it makes you happy, and you really hope it's a series? That's how I felt finishing this. It's FUN. Looking forward to reading the next one. Hope the writer is working on it!
