And this is what I didn’t like about The Poppy Fields: too many perspectives switching to quickly and frequently so you never really get any depth with any character.

Please let this end as well as it’s going so far.

This is becoming a slog. And it’s not always necessary to tell a story from multiple perspectives. It’s all third person limited omniscience to whoever the chapter is about, and maybe this is why I’m not connecting to anyone. I’m just “watching” them.

Since when do short stories have chapters?

So far this doesn’t read like a Hendrix book, but I’m sucked in to the story.

This book just keeps dragging on. It’s not even a slow burn—the ember went out long ago. And the timelines have stopped making any sense. Did the author even google premature babies?!

This book is going no where. Having short chapters, changing narrators, and changing timelines doesn’t mean anything is actually happening. It’s so much smoke and mirrors. Yawn.

Okay, the back and forth with time is getting on my nerves.

I just keep rolling my eyes because the author captured so much of social media and the trad wife thing perfectly in all its ludicrous nature. Listening to “influencers” instead of actual scientists. Good lord.

Well, I’m already in love with the writing. Gorgeous!
