Someone PLEASE tell me what is so genuinely good about this book? Catalina is infuriating! Her grudge with Aaron is so pathetic, I can't believe her immaturity.

The writing is awful and Aaron is the dullest, most unexciting love interesting I've had the unfortunate pleasure of reading.

I'm only a few pages in, but I can already confirm that this is the worst writing I have ever encountered in a physical book (excluding Wattpad) to date. Book gods, please have mercy on me... I spent £2 on a recommendation from TikTok... and I yet to find justification for the 4.22 rating on goodreads. 🌚 I wish I was as excited as the book tubers raving about this!

Ok... so the female protagonist started off completely petty-less with subtle intelligence and actually felt relatable? Halfway into the book, however, you realise that she is basically an immature teenager with 0% concept of the real world; makes childish remarks that the author should definitely be given an award for!

PLSSS HELP A GIRL OUT!! I am looking for something dark, magical with heavy folklore or gothic elements; fairies, eerie re-tellings, with a touch of romance *if possible* but not mandatory! I am not particularly looking for a young adult so Holly Black, Sarah J Maas etc will not be considered or any other mainstream authors! New Adult and Adult is the sort of vibe I'm feeling *---* Any rec's are SUPER appreciated x

This book is THICC!! I haven't read such a big baby in a long time... and strangely it is everything I wanted from Uprooted by Naomi what's her name; anyway, I am surprised that it's not a bigger thing in the Young Adult book community because this book is what ACOTAR wasn't and what Uprooted wanted to be!

So far, this is everything I wanted from Uprooted and didn't get. It's classical magic, the fairytale aspect is a mixture of Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty and the Fairies from The Cruel Prince, with a pinch of beasts and strange creatures.

I have known and still hold true that I would rate this book five glowing stars; it is utterly fantastic and the perfect cleanser to my reading palette, I am dying to finish this while not wanting to finish it at all!

Not seeing why people are hating on this so far, however, I am only 79 pages in butttttt....... I'm honestly getting so many autumn/witchy/cosy/gloomy vibes that maybe all of what I'm loving is clouding the bad???

Let's be real here.

For a first time reader- the book is a confusing mess that feels like it's true target are second-time readers which Maggie hun, is not a good thing. I need a clear introduction to the series because at the moment I am not planning on re-reading this book to 'better' understand what in the world is happening 50% of the time.

Anyway, on a positive note, Gansey is a delicacy I am down to taste.
