I like that a bad boy hero is actually shown doing something unambiguously bad on page.

Hm, I'm liking the way Dominick and Juliana interact.

This is a whole lot of expository dialogue.

These people are assholes.

The first person present tense is killing this book.

"She liked penises, and it had been a while since she'd gotten to play with one."

There's nothing I don't love about that sentence.

"It took a rare man to have an orgasm over books."

That's my kind of man.

I like the set up, but I'm a bit squicked by Walter's "I want you" after just meeting her. It's too much the stereotypical pervy vicar of other romances. I might know he's not a pervy vicar, but she doesn't

The world building could be better and the writing lays it on really thick with the whole bad-ass heroine and her equally batshit friends, but I'm having too much fun to care. I get a kick out of women with anger-management issues.

So now he loves her all of a sudden?

I'm allergic to cats, so when Ellie puts on the red drawers that the cat has been playing with, all I can think of is what happens to my eyes when cat hair gets near them. And now I'm squirming in my chair.

The descriptions of the paintings sound cheesy as hell. And I would be pissed if I were in Cath's shoes right now...he just put her life out there for the world's entertainment.

Ah, okay, so there are actually legitimate reason for Cath to be all gun-shy about Nev. That would have been nice to know sooner, because up until now I've been muttering to myself about how contemporaries never have any real conflict. This book could have done with a prologue.

Ugh, please tell me this evil ex girlfriend isn't going to play a major part in this story.

I like the characters and the premise, but so far the story just feels off to me. I just don't see what Cath's problem is. Nev is nothing like the guys she was with when she was "Bad Cath" (how many goddam times do we have to hear about Bad Cath/New Cath?), so why is she freaking out?

So Venetia sets out to get revenge for a petty reason. But fine, whatever, I love a good revenge plot. But she gives up way to quickly! One night of hot sex and now she's all dewy eyed?!

I really just don't care about these two. Sherry Thomas' lovely prose is completed wasted on this couple.

Not looking good so far. I'm not a huge fan of love at first sight stories, and when that "love" is completely one-side and it happened with just a look from a distance, and the "love" lasts for ten years even though he's never met her...

It's going to take some impressive writing gymnastics to make me care about this "hero." If this wasn't a Sherry Thomas book I would have already DNF'd this.

I really like that she's shown to be suffering severe mental trauma and, I guess, Stockholm Syndrome. That's real. I can't help but compare this book to old-school romances where the hero rapes the heroine and it's all okay because she learns to love him.

Wow. I went into this expecting to hate it but I was so intrigued by the premise and the reviews that I had to read it. And now I can't put it down!

Oh, I love this so much. If more contemporaries were like this I wouldn't avoid them most of the time. That hot sauce was just the perfect combination of funny, sweet, and sexy.

This book already lost me with the petty reason for Cole walking out on Ren. Lucas is awesome, and there's just no contest between him and Cole.

Oh my! Awesomely hot read. Two annoyances so far. 1)Damon's manner of speaking is overly formal and extremely distracting. English is his first language so what's the deal? And 2)I have major issues with Damon's rule that if Serena ever says "No" to anything then the whole deal is off. That's just so emotionally manipulative.

I wasn't too impressed at first but, wow, Edwina and Mick are just magic together. Romance heroes always just sort of blend together for me but Mick is a stand out.

Good writing but this is boring the hell out of me. This is more of a character study and an analysis of a broken marriage, NOT a romance.

It's okay so far. She talks a lot about how different she's always been compared to those in her community, when what I was for was more in depth accounts of her interactions with various family members and friends. She mentions in the beginning how her mother left when she was a baby and she only saw her a handful of times while growing up. Why not detail one of those visits?
