These stories are… fine. But this man’s portrayal of women is just awful. I might need to find a list of the best stories and only read those. What a prick.

I’m about to DNF. I can’t track the plot, it jumps around between past and present with some folklore thrown in. Maybe it would be better to read the printed version.

I’m having a really tough time trying to figure out if the way King handles his female characters is intentionally horrific or if that’s just how his brain worked when he wrote this book.

Women’s only worth comes in relation to men or what purpose they serve (good luck being purposeful beyond sex doll status). Men just exist.

This book is incredibly difficult to take for long-timed reading stints. I can really only listen/read for about an hour at a time but it’s important to me that I finish. The subject matter is heartbreaking.

Very respectful and quality writing from Parry and great narration by Vance.
