This is a great, chilling read, but it's driving me nuts. One chapter is the current time and events, and the next chapter starts out, "One year earlier". It's a pain to try to keep it all straight. Maybe that will end soon and we'll stay in the current time.

I have finished this book - and it was a good read - I just haven't had time to write a review yet. When I do, it will be 4-stars

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what Hannah is supposed to be. She evidently works for Queen Victoria, but hasn't met the lady. I'm assuming the Duchess is her 'handler', but I'm not sure how that works. It sort of boggles my mind to think that the straight-laced Queen Victoria would sanction out-and-out murder and basically women's lib.

How did the duchess come to inherit all the money and properties? Her husband died - where is the new duke? Something is off with all of that.

The duke is constantly referred to as Lieutenant General. In England, the proper form of address for a man who holds both the title of a duke and the military rank of Lieutenant General would be to use his ducal title in most instances. When addressing him formally, you would refer to him as "Your Grace". In a military context, however, he might be addressed by his rank, which would simply be "General".

I HATE cliffhangers!!!! This author writes two series that I love. She has released a new book in each series within a month of each other (March 29 & May 2) and both of them are cliffhangers. This one I could sort of live with the cliffhanger and a resolution in the next book - but the other one, there was plenty of chaff in that book where you could remove it and do the entire thing in one book.

I am just past the 60% mark and have seriously considered DNFing this book since about the 25% mark. I am sick to death of India's insecurities and believing anything Matt's aunt has to say about her being unsuitable for him -- and I'm equally fed up with Matt feeling responsible for the well-being of everyone even to his own and India's detriment. ENOUGH ALREADY. Hope they fix his watch before the end.

Nice read - very short - However, the ONLY relationship it has with Christmas is that it is set at Christmas. There is no holly, walks in the moonlight, mistletoe, or other Christmas stuff included. So, if you are looking for a really Christmas-themed book, this isn't it. There is a Christmas Ball, but it is only mentioned and the first dance described - and not in a Christmas way.

Have to think on this one before I write the review. I don't like Venus - and I haven't liked her in any of the books. The epilogue ended the series nicely. It reminded me of the second book - only without the mystery. Both characters took to instant sniping with each other as soon as they met. Both were secretive and distrustful, etc. She was off the deep end sometimes, so I found myself siding with Galahad.

Oh! I love this series! This book surely doesn't let you down - it is entertaining, witty, and, so far, filled with Bea's insecurities which she always deals with in such an entertaining way. Kesgrave has lied to her - or she thinks he has - and now her mind has turned it into the Great Fabrication. Then, she finds him holding his former mistress in his arms - OOPS. Not to worry though - all innocent.

Just can't get there with these main characters. In some respects Cormac reminds me of the Monk character on the TV show - but without the sweet, endearing, lovable qualities. Just annoying.
