Funny how in previous books Aaliyah was a very skilled doctor, and now, in this one, she is all of a sudden, a writer. Are we paying attention to our own characters??

One more time I read the word Bratva in this context, I'll scream. She's referring to organized criminal organization in former Soviet Union, but the word bratva only describes a person, who belongs to this organization. It could be a big boss or one all the way in the bottom of the food chain. Just the fact, that he belongs to it, doesn't make him a #1 boss. I think, next time I read it, I'll puke.

WTF?

It's really annoying, how every time the students of the Oakhurst get attacked (3 times by now), the protagonists are the ONLY ones, who fight. The teachers and other students don't do sh...t, and there's no description of any reaction anyone right after the attack scenes. This really downplays the seriouseness of the attacks, and leaves gaps in the narration.

No sh...t, really?

So far the plot is decent, keeping me interested, but the writing... What's happening with the writing these days? I'm no English major, but even I can see, that one run-on sentence on top of another is not kosher. And what happened w/ show, don't tell? Is it no more in YA literature? Oh boy...

Why must it be so, so painful??? Why?
