So far enjoying it. There are definitely some strange things going on. Now she's in this lux ship and it doesn't make sense- based on the world she knows.

Okay I think I remember things now. But this book has some serious daddy issues.

Women are cursed for life with a visual representation of their sin with red hair. Then they are publicly punished and shamed; regardless of how the sin came to be willingly or not-and the man faces no consequences from society.
This is the set up with one sided purity culture paired with a curse and feminine rage that I'm assuming will burn it all down.

Trying to figure out what is going on ... I knew this was one I should have re-read before starting book 2 lol

I did speed up the audio a little but this is fantastic I love it so much ❤️

I don't remember if did audio last time or book but I definitely sped up the narrator. Also I don't remember her having a cat.

Kings and monsters are grown from the same soil.

There is some pretty neat world building. She just fell into a river of blood.

The world building is definitely different from what I've been reading.
We have a man in power society but marriages are arranged strangely.
Plus we have maidens fighting nightmares but not everything is as it seems

"You can't run from a disciplinary letter." They did in fact run from a disciplinary letter....
This book has me rolling 😂

For one, one of the ghosts is an octopus! With comments like "I can identify trees!" "Look! There's a tree!"

Definitely check out this book it's been hilarious so far.

Chapter 2
They find the office and have some funny world building banter.

Ok we have one chapter that is all friendship is power in the face of trouble and then next chapter is an adult like creature isolating a child and asking them to get into trouble, I mean help them.

The very beginning reminds me of the Good Place so I'm excited to see where it leads

I'm falling into this world much easier this time. I was hooked by the end of book one but it took a while with the new words and manner of speech to understand all the parts I think. Anyhow. 2 mother's looking for their sons. A betrayer and a man looking for vengeance, a woman looking for her own path... Did I miss anyone..

I read book one as an arc and found it intriguing. A changeling queen in this book - will she find something good or only tricks from the courts

I'm 3 stories in. I liked the 2nd story the best so far the 1st story seems like a cut scene that could be in a different book

This is my summer reading week 4-5? Book. I think L.J.Andrews has a good knack for making me nervous. The whole time I'm second guessing what's going on and when the betrayal will happen.

I won't lie my child has already read all the spoilers lol.... otherwise so much re explaining new things about the world and recap so far.

I obviously don't read descriptions.... but this is the same universe as Ember of Ashes.

In reading this to get a preview of what to expect from his longer work. Looking at reviews it's really a mixed bag but I'll give it a go to see what the world building looks like
