I had to remember what was going on. So far the FMC is not annoying me as badly as she did in book 1. Not sure if the change is permanent or because I'm listening to the audiobook yet.

Still hoping to become more invested.

Read 2 more chapters. 1 past about downfall of his original land and meeting some current friends of his with plan to topple regime.
1 current time: shows he is cautious and nice- choosing to release the prisoners but recognizing needs to keep them suspended ECT

Girl made fun of but tolerated and works at a bookstore....i vet Belle vibes. I did like the opening about the different lives ECT.
Lucas has some serious Gaston Gaslighting and abuse vibes.

The story keeps going back and forth in time. I've yet to figure out why but I'm assuming something from his past is what is causing this thing in the future/present.

Probably one of the better books I've read by this author. I still have issues...it started out very familiar. The female Beta has a nickname and personality change before I even remember her actual name. Some other things as well but headache.ect.

I read Marked by Masks and Secrets last year and loved it from the beginning. This one has similar vibes in the same world, different city. Can't wait to see where it goes.

We've seen a little about Kai when he first came to the mortal plain.
They have traveled by whale so he could speak with demon Grandma beneath the earth.

Our FMC is currently poor but used to be rich.
A demi fae? That she wasn't aware that she was .
She has asthma, hears voices, And can enter the vale apparently.
Her ex demi fae bf shows up and recruits her to a spy academy after some serious shade.
....

Starts out pretty fast paced. High fantasy? Type world.
KAI is asleep? Dead? He jumps into another's body kills a bunch of people and takes the prisoner girl with him to find his ..love? That he can communicate with telepathically. Then they try to figure out what happened and how much time has passed and where their friends may be.

I love this world .

I loved the 1st two stories in this world and hope this one is just as good. New protagonist. City sounds familiar.

Chapter 1
She seems a little whiny and down to earth with background. I may have missed something trying to figure out how old she was talking about being sick... But seemed to to me her kinks(?) and then she was engaged but her heart belongs to someone who rejected her but the last time she was home she was 11 and now she's 19 so maybe I missed a time flash somewhere

New to me author.
It took me a minute to fall into the world of plotting gods and power but now it is like a lovely dream every time I read. There is a backdrop of war. But at its center it's longing and a desire to belong and be loved and accepted.

Dual narration audiobook 😍

She starts from a place where she has power but she shouldn't. Things change rapidly from there.

Starting ch4.
So far I've an idea of where the MC is where she's come from and what she is capable of. I have an idea her friends know much more than she knows. A chosen one type story I'm guessing .

The dad is the obvious villain so far. Childhood trauma and all that.
The Sailor is Sus.
I like the magic of the world. She's mentioned seeing feelings in colors so wonder if it's a description or more than that.
I know this came first but it reminds me of Phantasma on several things .

This book is simply written. I like the spacing and added pictures for younger readers. The storyline follows Minli and sometimes her Ma and Ba as they hear stories from the past and experience their own journey filled with whimsical magic and hope.

So many happy things and crazy war things...what is gonna happen there are not enough pages left ....

Flint's emotional anguish makes him more real. he isn't only the funny playboy anymore but someone with real world trauma to sort through

I'm enjoying all of the relationship interactions. Like Raine ...."I've been a stupid idiot." And then deciding he will do better for her. It makes me smile.
I'm a little lost on the life bringer part and how Lessia can do so much more now....

The Fox/ Blaze tension is making me smile.
I don't remember...do we know what's wrong with Hal?

Ch 6 has some alive in Wonderland stuff

I was a little hazy in what happened at the end of the book but I think I have a good idea after reading a little .

Wait is it cross?

Is the guy they are chasing is he wolf?

The tension is intense lol
