Lush scenes and heavy prose, I can feel the lust and blood.

Pager turner, and full of quality prose.

This is a bloody and dark book. So far one of the main characters seems slightly one sided, looking for character growth or further explanation of the character. Well written battle scenes, interesting cross of late medieval weapons and flint lock weapons.

Ok, tavern setting and its outskirts, good character work so far, and I am digging the emotions from the books main character. Solid writing too.

Yeah, this is a book club book and I picked what happens at the end at page 89 and so far my "guess" has been accurate. Overall, I'm not impressed with this pop fiction book so far. It's been marked a best book of 2025, my thought is, what else are people reading where this is the "best", maybe the second half will change my mind.

This as a grand conspiracy with a murder at the forefront for the plot, person female POV.
