Stopped using Goodreads to track my books in early 2025. Been using StoryGraph instead.

I stopped reading part way into chapter 2. There’s way too much patriarchal BS in this story. I read to escape reality and this book just mimics reality for women, so it’s not an escape even though it has shifters as the main characters.

So many words used to describe every scene. Makes the pace really drag. Plus the FMC keeps having bad thoughts & keeping them to herself til her beau forces her to tell him. She finally does, feels better, & says “I should’ve told you sooner.” & repeat. How many examples do we need?
Also, I read fast and kindle says I still have 6 HOURS left. Not sure I’ll make it much further unless the pace picks up.

Stopped reading at 55%. Too much descriptive, narrative language that tanked the pace and added no real value.

FMC is in big fire, gets knocked out by flaming debris, unconscious for days but gets released immediately with no recovery time or burns, apparently. Doesn’t ask to see her kids for days. Later, she’s in hospital again, unconscious for days (again), released as soon as she wakes up. Ridiculous. All of it.
Multiple times a scene is written twice & both versions left in book.
Sex scenes were rushed & meh.

Did not finish. Interested in the story line but all the talk of knots and slick isn’t for me. And there is a lot. I probably skimmed / skipped a solid 15% before just stopping.

Big fan of the author, will definitely continue reading their works, just not this series.

I stopped reading at about 60%. Too many words describing things and doing so repeatedly. It kept bringing the pace of the story to a halt. I read about this scene once, on the previous page (or paragraph!) and I surely don’t need to be told again. Maybe if it was a show and a tell vs two tells, it would’ve been okay.

Another slow moving one. May pick it back up.

Painfully slow, characters aren’t very likable. Given how long ago I started this, I doubt I’ll continue it.

Not very fast paced and it’s not keeping my attention.

If you have strong feelings on men telling a woman that she is Owned by them, don’t read this book. It is so irritating and debasing that I will not be finishing it. The writing itself is good though, so I’ve moved onto another stand alone book in this series.
