A horror story. Poor Elsie recently widowed and pregnant inherits her late husband’s, Rupert’s, country estate. Dilapidated and haunted. Elsie moves to the estate with Rupert’s only surviving relative, a cousin named Sarah, who should have been the rightful heiress, and the strangeness begins.

Patsy is 50% done with The Sisters of Glass Ferry
Story of twins, Patsy and Flannery. Patsy disappears from the family at age 16. Twenty years later Flannery is still not sure what happened to Patsy. The chapters alternate between 1952 and 1972 to tell the back story and the current story simultaneously. Not sure what rating I will give this yet. It is entertaining enough for bedtime reading yet not so gripping that I stay up late reading.

You know what to expect when you pick up a Richard Paul Evans book. Charles James is very successful marketer of Get Rich Quick seminars across the country. But every night he is haunted by a dram in which he is walking down a broken road and devastation surrounds him in all sides.

I am at the halfway point and so far we have already covered many currently popular social messages.

I briefly attended Bryant Wyatt's church when we lived in Georgia. He is a gifted speaker - this is the first book of his I have read.

"So what is the Kingdom of God? If Jesus reigns as Lord in your life, the kingdom of God is there."

Patsy is reading The Two-Family House
5 stars. You will think you have it all figured out. And on some levels you will. But not everything. The ending is very touching and provokes watery eyes. I love a good beginning (which is definitely true here) but I love a good ending even better.

Patsy is finished with Unforgettable: A Mother and Son's Final Days---and the Lessons that Last a Lifetime
Lovely, heartwarming book. Scott Simon lets us walk with him through a sad time for him and his mother. The writing is beautiful. I laughed. I cried. I pondered many of the life circumstances he describes. This is a true-to-life story of a special relationship between mother and child, about growing up and growing old, but, most importantly, about walking with an older generation as they take the final walk of life.

Bought this on a lark. Not a big historical fiction fan but the story of the Wars of the Roses sounded like it would be different. And it is. So far I am totally mesmerized with how Elizabeth is furthering the York monarchy.

Learning about the second book of the series, I had to decide if I wanted to read another Evans story so soon. So I decided to let fate decide. I would return Walk to the library and, if I found Miles to Go on the shelf, then it would be my sign to continue. There it sat, waiting for me to arrive.

After reading just the first chapter, I'm anxious to see what happens to Johnny - the 13-year-old left to fend for himself as his mother deals with her grief over losing another child by abusing pills and alcohol.
