Another clunky sentence:

This book is so tongue-in-cheek, I'm eating it uppp

idk if I've read anything worse than this:
"Normally, no one broke the rules.
But not this time."
Simple fix: "Normally, everyone followed the rules. But not this time." Or: "Normally, no one broke the rules. But this time was different." Or literally anything other than what was actually published, because that is such a clunky sentence.

It seemed odd to her that he would study the very religion he found so oppressive.
so many people do, when you think about it - Muslim, Mormon, and independent fundamentalist women all study the books/teaching/dogma that oppress them. Or women with internalized misogyny who believe what they've been taught about women's inferiority, though that's society not a religion.

"By overthrowing the Final Empire are we doing something good, or are we doing something bad?"
"Does it matter?"
What did she join for, if she didn't think it mattered? Also, even if it doesn't matter, don't you like discussion and hypotheticals? It's good for your brain, just practice hypothesizing even if there's no clear answer or purpose.

Ham's questions were interesting and thought-provoking - I wish Sanderson had pursued that and given the reader a discussion on whether their fight was good and right. Instead, he surrounds Ham with an anti-intellectual crew and it pisses me off. I hate people who find thinking "exhausting", or who complain that you "make their brain hurt". So you're boring? Get over it, utilize your critical thinking skills.

How was Kelsier's "benevolent" plan to overthrow the Final Empire helping the common people who cleaned these steps?

She didn't like when people looked at her that way—it made her wonder how they were going to try and use her.
oh pleeeaaase 🙄🙄 Sando is seriously overdoing the emo angst, she's so clearly written by someone who doesn't have trust issues.

Also, is he even a good writer? SHOW us how she doesn't trust easily, SHOW us how her guard is up, STOP TELLING.

"You were the one who risked Pushing the emotions of an obligator."
She didn't risk it, she didn't even know there WAS danger, she just noted that something "felt wrong". There is no bravery or risk when you aren't even aware of the danger. Again, sando tryna convince us she's brave when we're not stupid - we know she had no awareness of the risks she was taking (pg 39-40).
