2: he doesn't remind you who so-and-so is. With so many people coming and going in the book, and so many 60s and 70s white person names (eg: Jane Smith, one of the wives), I have such a hard time remembering if so and so is a spouse, a parent, or a kid, and which astronaut they're related to.

A couple things I'm having trouble with:
1. he doesn't mention dates very regularly, so I have a hard time knowing how much time has passed since the last thing has happened.

my takeaways (so far):
1. stay humble. Listen when someone brings them to your attention, acknowledge them, and then change.
2. stay patient, especially if others' lives are dependent on slow, safe progress. Human life is paramount to saving face, or saving money.
3. stay the course, keep fighting for what you believe in, even if you're getting push-back from the higher ups. (Your conscience will thank you!)

Another clunky sentence:
"The grief and pain that he had done nothing to stop it, even though he didn't know how."

idk if I've read anything worse than this:
"Normally, no one broke the rules.
But not this time.
"
Simple fix: "Normally, everyone followed the rules. But not this time." Or: "Normally, no one broke the rules. But this time was different." Or literally anything other than what was actually published, because that is such a clunky sentence.
