Gavin is starting The Book of the Duchess: (Classic Edition)
First time reading. I need to read Riverside Chaucer soon. Large task, but this short poem that Chaucer authored for John of Gaunt’s wife’s death was quite enjoyable and I can understand why John as payment provided Chaucer with a £100 a year stipend for the rest of his life.

An enjoyable read. A fan of HM and believe she had a brilliant mind. Intriguing to imagine her solving mysteries.

Good start, but I need to refresh my knowledge of English king lineage. It’s a favorite century for me, but like Pope’s it easy to mistake names.

So far, an interesting survey of the Genoese themselves, vs a standard history of their outreach.

Gavin is starting Woodcraft and Camping
A book that makes me wish that I had lived at the time of Nessmuk and experienced the outdoors that he records here. I only camped in my life, some canoeing and kayaking, but would have loved learning the directions he expresses here.

Great for similar interested readers.
