How to write a monotonous and boring story

It’s a relatively short book, but the ending feels drawn out and exhausting.

The story is picking up, but the characters aren’t exactly entertaining. I really don’t care very much about them. Some things I find annoying are the excessive references and descriptions. It feels too much like the author is trying hard to “write well” over just telling a good story.

Why so many brackets? :(

So far, I feel indifferent. Maybe that’s because I’m not a big fan of stories about books and writers. Seems too self-referential to me. Additionally, I find the premise a bit... boring? I don’t really care about the characters yet. But it’s still early days so I’ll keep pushing. The only thing I like so far is Nora and Libby’s relationship as sisters.

I don’t think I’ve ever read any book like this. How are there so many words without an actual plot? Astounding!

I don't think having a degree in law and reading as a hobby qualifies someone to be a librarian. People go to uni for this and man is like, “you're overqualified because you're a lawyer.” How rude.

And his height is a bonus, too, as he’s got to be six foot eight, which is the perfect height for me, being five foot eleven.

Why? 6’8 is such a weirdly specific unusually tall height to fawn over, even for a tall girl. Why go that high? What happened to 6’4 or 6’5? Even those are extremes, but it’s a fantasy so we’ll take it. But 6’8? It’s no longer appealing. I can’t even picture the character!

I think it’s wrong that Corvan is looking at Finley when she’s passed out because he drank her blood. It just seems wrong.

“Get up,” he said, his voice soft but so commanding I obeyed without thinking. “You’re about to find out what happens when you invite yourself into the lion’s den.”

Lion’s den. Smh. Lion’s den.

Stop itttt!!! He says she’s so short she doesn’t come up to his chin. Then immediately says she has long legs. How?? If you’re short, your legs are probably also short. Stop😂

This book is so dramatic. Just make a simple point the author uses the most complex metaphors. Why do that? Just get to the point lol.

The never ending intimate scene is giving me a headache. Speed it along, please :,-)

Hold up. Two WHOLE years later? WTF?!?

I'm sorry? Am I reading this right? This rando dude aka mmc recognises his friend's sister at a brothel in China where she is kidnapped and trafficked to. When he gets time alone with her, she even admits to this. And his next action is to grope her?? WTF is this???

Why is he pulling her hair to the point of pain?? Wut

He's at least not old, fat or a disgusting combination of the two.

Is this ageism and fatphobia? I'm not sure, but it rubbed me the wrong way.

There's a lot of unnecessary rambling. We're mid-scene and the author cuts of the interaction between two characters to give us a breakdown we didn't need. The characters are on pause while we review what happened earlier. Makes for a rough reading experience.

Definitely not my type. I prefer my women with a natural look.

His women? It's a brothel, lol. Also, his not like other men🥴

This book is atrocious

People are getting hurt and this girl is wondering if the gargoyle will be impressed by her lingerie?? It makes zero sense. What was the thought process between these two authors? I can't imagine how they'd think together and come up with this. What the hell?

He’s so close to breaking. I can break him. If I can break him, then he can shatter me, and then maybe... Maybe some of this will make sense. Maybe all of it will.

There's too much narration breaking the dialogue. Not enough talk, too much thinking.
