This is not a feel-good fantasy, it’s quite the opposite. But I just can’t put the book down.

This book has traumatized me through and through. You may need content warnings to decide whether they’re in a strong enough mental state to read it:

• sudden infant death
• loss of a husband
• inhumane working conditions and an overpolluted environment
• female mutilation
• multiple cases of rape
• racism
• stalking by journalists
• abuse by the justice system

I’m only about 10% in, but it feels like it might end up in the DNF folder. This is the most boring biography I’ve read so far.

I just read another positive review of Majgull Axelsson’s “Aprilhäxan” (“The April Witch”) and I’m puzzled! While so many readers love it, I found myself struggling through most of it. Did anyone else feel the same way, or am I missing something?
