I “read” this one as an audiobook. One of the issues I have with it — beyond the endless calculations of gravity and the discussions about measurement units with the UFO, which responds only with clucking sounds — is how slowly it’s narrated in the Swedish version.

Slow speech is an absolute sin in my world, so I had to set it to 1.5x speed to make it bearable for my temperament.

This is not a feel-good fantasy, it’s quite the opposite. But I just can’t put the book down.

This book has traumatized me through and through. You may need content warnings to decide whether they’re in a strong enough mental state to read it:

• sudden infant death
• loss of a husband
• inhumane working conditions and an overpolluted environment
• female mutilation
• multiple cases of rape
• racism
• stalking by journalists
• abuse by the justice system

I’m only about 10% in, but it feels like it might end up in the DNF folder. This is the most boring biography I’ve read so far.
