I feel insane. Maybe it’s my misophonia and listening to the audio book, but fuck, this is dull.

I’m clearly not the target audience. She lost me when talking about how the writer and the person aren’t the same (I’m a writer and a person, and I am), and then ages upon ages of talk about her parents lives before she was born have turned me off. I don’t care.

If it wasn’t for book club I’d put it down.

Banger of an introduction. It’s 1:20am though, so I’ll have to hold off on reading more until tomorrow.

Let’s get uncomfortable. And let’s get some hope.

I got to 42%, got scared, watched two hours of fun videos, washed my face for bed, thought about the book, and got scared again.

This feels like an endorsement if I’ve ever seen one.

I just started, and I don’t think I can read any more tonight. I feel like a little kid, I’m legit spooked by this book.

I don’t read a ton of horror, but I’m not a stranger. This book legitimately gets my heart rate going. It reminds me of that old cave story. The old internet one. That scared the shit out of me too.

31% and so far I genuinely enjoy this book. It feels like it’s been so long since I’ve enjoyed a book that isn’t DCC. I feel like I’ve just been reading stinkers this year. Stinkers and DCC. Fuck, I hope it stays good. I need it to stay good.

Their lack of curiosity is exhausting.

I adore absurd books, but this one might be too weird for me 🤣

I’ll see it through. I’ve got the listening hours.

I’ve now hit the second of the parts where it feels like I should be done, only to find I’ve got more to go.

I’m tired, grandpa! I don’t want to hear the same conversations over and over! They’ve forgotten, but I haven’t, and I stopped caring ages ago 😒

This book should have been a novella. I hit the half way point, and it was such a perfect climax I was shocked to see that I was only half way through, and honestly disappointed.

It’s fine. Had the entity not started talking to Quinn I might have forgiven it more. Been more like the hiss, and less like a super lame boogie man. The second it started talking it was less scary, and it wasn’t scary to begin with.

This should be my favorite book. It’s all the things I love. It’s Control adjacent, curated SCP like entities, I should be eating it up. Obsessed.

But I’m not.

I’m 30% of the way through, so I’m not going to say I hate it, but so far I find the fact that the entities the antimemetics division deals with make them forget bores me.
