Ok it’s starting to cook! I still think multi POV “found footage” type of narratives are reallllly hard to pull off, and everyone’s voice sounds similar, but they all have very clear, individual perspectives.

It was a little slow going for me, but once I got past the first third I was hooked deep. devastatingly, my two week borrow ended this morning mid-read 😭😭 and I’m back on the waitlist

I was reluctant to trust a man with a fat lesbian main character but game must recognize game

romantasy for Magic the Gathering fans (complimentary). I am actually romantasy’s biggest hater, and one dark window reminds me less of the modern “romantasy” boom and more of how things used to be (shakes cane at sky) - when fantasy novels were well written, had a fairly cohesive magic system, and included a love story along with a substantial plot.

Kingfisher has such a pleasant and enjoyable way of writing even when it’s about CPTSD and rot.

Ok after this I need a palate cleanser from mentally ill heroine horror

I cannot stress how intensely this book embodies my specific flavor of questioning reality / existential intrusive thoughts.

in fifth grade I passed the accelerated reader quiz on the wizard of oz without reading it or seeing the movie. way more casual beheadings than I expected in here.
