Ok, I love Nick’s writing and the story is very intriguing but can we stop with the animal torture now?

I’m not even finished with the book and I can count 12 scenes where animals are tortured and/or killed. Some of the scenes have entire groups of animals and I’m counting all of the insect torture as 1

Know what keeps us sane? It’s not the idea that we understand the world. It’s the FACT that we understand it. We need things that we believe to be true to actually BE true. If they aren’t, if we come to the horrifying conclusion that we have no better grip on reality than a fish or a pig, THAT’S what will break a man’s mind

Ugh! John is the WORST! How come husbands in these books are always wankers? lol

Ok, Chapter 1… that was a hell of a way to start off! 😳

I had no idea that the backdrop of this story is based on a feud between an old lady in Scotland and Donald Trump over purchasing her land for a golf course! Super interesting

The narrator for this audiobook breaths like Darth Vader and desperately needs to cough. The few times he does breath through his nose, it’s like listening to a whistle. Sigh… sadly, far from the worst narration I’ve heard…

Never trust the government or mega-corporations… 🙈

Just… wow…

I adored everything about this story! It felt like a modern epic. It felt like Dante’s Inferno meets Game of Thrones. It felt like watching The Damned redeeming their souls and the shadows of Hell being blinded by The Light. It left my eyes moist and my heart full and I can’t wait to read it again and again. If ever there was a perfect ending - this was it! Talk about an instant classic!

Slowest slow burn I’ve ever read. Bored so far - hoping it gets better
