Re-reading. The author just released a sequel, so I'm refreshing my memory of the first one before I dive into the second. Enjoying it as much now as I did when I first read it!

I usually love Georgette Heyer, but I'm having trouble with this one. The book spends too much time with Letty, who's a spoiled brat, her stepbrother's wife, Nell, who's annoyingly simple-minded, and Nell's brother Dysart, who's also stupid and has a gambling problem. The character I like the most, Nell's husband Chardross, is an important part of the storyline but not in most scenes himself - at least not so far.

Happy Thanksgiving to all celebrating today! We may not be able to be with all our loved ones this year, but there's still so much to be grateful for - and I'm thankful for my GoodReads friends. God bless you all!

I've read this before - Called A Touch of Night (no subtitle) by author Sarah Hoyt, published in 2010. Same co-author, though, so I'm assuming that this is a re-release with Ms. Hoyt changing her pen name. I sure hope that's the case, anyway.

I'm absolutely loving this! Really well written, and the plot is unique. Hoping the last half is as good as the first.

I'm only up through Chapter 3, and I already adore this book. It appeals to my love of the absurd - this is filled with over-the-top Regency ridiculousness.

Haven't read this in years, so I've forgotten a lot of the good bits. Such wonderful writing! Love the brotherly relationship between Darcy and Colonel Fitzwilliam.

Oh, my! Every time Abby's sister Selina gets talking, I find myself chuckling. A bit Miss Bates-ish (Persuasion).

This is very, very interesting. I'm loving these characters. I'm frustrated with myself because I should be enjoying this more than I am, and it's not the author's fault. The COVID-19 crisis is negatively affecting my focus. Life feels so strange right now, and I don't get the same joy from reading that I normally do. Anyone else?

It took several chapters for me to get into it, but now I'm completely invested in these WWII characters and eager to see what's going to happen with them!

I am sitting here, reading this book, and bawling like a baby. My GR friends know it's rare for a book to bring me to years, but this one has. No idea how the author is going to wrong an HEA out of this. Wow!

Loving this so far! Elizabeth and Darcy have waited out a storm together. Think the locals are going to figure out they were alone together? They were both missing overnight!

I like the primary plot here, but it's really dragging. Lots of unnecessary, boring scenes. I'm at that point where I can't wait to finish, not because I'm excited to know what happens next, but so I can move on to my next book.

Doing some RV camping for a couple of days. Sitting out in the woods near our campfire with my book (NOT Kindle) in hand and our iPod playing Mozart. This short story collection is a gem - just right for today! Among them: a modern paranormal with hints of Northanger Abbey, missives from Maria Lucas to Lydia Bennet starting at Hunsford, and a sweet story about how Admiral and Mrs. Croft met. Loving it all!

This is a perfect read for me right now. Lots going on, so I'm not getting big blocks of reading time. Nice anthology with 22 short stories by various authors. Great book to be able to pick up and put down without losing the flow of a plot, which happens when I'm interrupted reading longer works. And each story so far has been excellent! Love it!
