My eyes lingered on Trent, kind of liking how he looked when he was ticked, his stance firm and his expression resolute, white hair floating as he got more and more angry. He was nothing like the man I'd once hated. He was stronger now, even as he was more vulnerable.

I was this close to a DNF, but it's picked up.

Yeah this is probably not a good one to follow up one the best books I've read. It's sooo very rinse and repeat. I am 40% in and nothing is happening. And I'm not even starting to learn why I'm supposed to like a character bringing death and destruction to mankind. Canada is beautiful and none of that is being described here. Trying to get a little bit of my money's worth with my kindle unlimited subscription but...

So ummm, I hear this author is taking time to write her first adult fantasy novel. Like, after reading that scene just now what does she consider adult?
