I don't know if this scene was a red herring or a real clue. It feels too obvious. But not really.

I like this! It's funny at times, and terrifying at others. I love the world created by the author. It's different and fascinating.

This is 100% first person POV.

This was written in 2011. Chapter 22 could *easily* take place in 2022. It may even fit 2022 better than 2011. We have regressed. It's not a good look.

I'm struggling with this one. I don't like Bob Hoon. He was interesting in small doses, like in the DCI Logan books. Bob Hoon all the time is ... not interesting.

Ugh. The psychiatrist (or psychologist?) from book 4 or 5 is back with a new scheme to get out of prison. I didn't enjoy the last book she had a cameo in. The main mystery is interesting, so there's that.

I really like the world in this book. It's detailed and has so many different supernaturals. The snark is fun, too!

I made an apple Tarte Tatin. The most difficult part is flipping the pan and plate. I made a mess. It tasted great!

I used premade puff pastry instead of making my own rough puff.

This is on pages 171-174

Intricate mystery and really well fleshed characters. Narrator is so good!

This feels dystopian. It was going ok, a bit different since both main characters are broken and distant. It makes me feel removed from the action. Most likely a deliberate choice by the author. I don't hate it. Just not my favorite technique.

I've reached a spot in the story that isn't working for me. I'm going to finish (probably) because I want to know if I've guessed the killer.

I'm not sure if I like listening to tweets read aloud. That gets weird since the narrator includes the @name of all names in the tweet. I am intrigued by the mystery. Also, I like the narrators.

So far, I'm enjoying this story in spite of the flashbacks.

The books in this series are fun mysteries. Yes, they're murder mysteries. I just love these characters! Also, having the protagonist be new to being a witch makes the world building evolve as she learns more. I really like it!

I'm struggling to keep reading. Too many characters who keep doing things that make no sense because I don't have all the information. The head hopping is getting on my nerves. Especially when we hop just as a big reveal is about to happen. The flashbacks don't fit, either. Why are they happening?

Lots of characters introduced in the first couple chapters. And flashbacks that don't connect to anyone yet.

Well, this is... different. The writing is a weird mix of 3rd person POV and 1st person POV. Also, flashbacks.

The most interesting part of the story is learning how Eden and Eric came to live with Hades. I think if those scenes had been the beginning of the book, it would be a compelling story. I dislike the 1st person character. He's a POS. The present day plot is interesting otherwise.

This is the 5th (I think) book series I've tried because I loved the tv show.I love the tv show Wire in the Blood, which was based on these characters. I am hopeful I will like the books as much.

There are a lot of flashbacks. At least the flashbacks seem natural. Not a ham handed attempt to explain. Still, not my favorite writing technique.

I like the story. At 1/3 through the story, I have no clue who murdered Luke & his family or even if it was someone other than Luke.
