I really like diction choice and author's narrative. Very witty and snappy. I'm expecting typical Fairytale rendering but I'm surprised by the realism/rational inputs/thinking. Because of the word choice, it feels like a natural world where witches and the likes are normal existing beings and sometimes forget that it's supposed to be a fantastical world. I'm loving it so far. I hope this won't be a let down.

In my humble opinion, the romance is not needed to help progress the plot. First he rejects her bc he knows Jenna personality and feels her love for him is just obsession and getting the thing she can't have. Like he's just a goal post. Then later he uses that same "love" as a bargain chip for her to switch and be the real Jenna. I know they're kids but cmonnnn.

Idk why I thought a part of the plot was MC murdering secondary character out of jealousy but when I went back to read the synopsis I was incredibly glad that its not that type of plot. PHEW. I feel bad for Jenna but OOO girl. I can feel the hate/jealousy/self loathing through the pages. I can relate to some of it, but I promise you maam. Harvard ain't worth it if you don't even got money to pay for it.

I like the whimsical way the authors words flow. It's reminding me of The Wild Robot's diction and I thoroughly enjoyed that trilogy. Can't wait to read the rest!

I don't think this book is for me, but I do appreciate how realistic the author frames it. I like how only the same species can communicate with each other and there's no cross communication from other species. I like how the author describes stuff through animal lenses. It makes the story emersive. Will finish it since it's a short book.

I don't really like how the story is written, but it makes sense if it's coming from an animal's perspective. Also lmao at "wet marking". He's pissing on the trees ehehehe.
