I found following the bad guy of the story to be. . . Disturbing to say the least. The protagonist is also the antagonist, there some sympathetic feelings for Blaze, he had a potentially bright future snuffed out by his father. His life wasn't easy but did it have to turn to a life of crime? Not one of my favorites.

I'm not sure about this one. King still has a way with the people he creates. They climb into your head and have a half life of their own. That's not the problem and who knows it may resolve amicably for me, Steve & his characters. What's got my hackles up (so much that like King I'm using 50 words where five would have sufficed) is the viewpoint being through what's technically the eyes of the bad guy.

I'm having a seriously hard time reading this. Some of it is health related but the majority is rolling out the tired often used trope where the bad guys are SUPER powerful and outnumber the good. While the good team huddles around a thimble of impossible hope while death and destruction surrounds them.
"Hey! I've got this cracked cup of Hop. . . oh drat, I've spilt it!"

Major apologies to the publisher and author for the late start on this ARC. I was approved late and thought I was finished with reading my last pile when I still had more to go.

Struggling with this one a little. It's just not grabbing my attention. I think the biggest issue is my dislike of fractured story telling and this one is telling three or is it four story arcs and just switching constantly between them. It's my least favorite way to write and annoying when it's two lines I have to keep track of more than that and it really begins to bug me. Plus it's dragging along slowly.

Last book in the Marine Corps series and I think the last Griffin for a while. While this year has been my 'Great Reread' I don't think I read this one back in the day. Well, here goes!

This is my 60th book this year. I had pledged 35 to Goodreads but rediscovered my love of reading by going back and picking up things I'd read years ago.

Back to rereading the stuff that fostered my love of reading. I haven't visited some of these old friends in ages, decades in some cases. Let's see how this goes.

Too predictable. They had an amazing world with astonishing unique monsters and made man the worst monster we face. Will finish I'm sure but I read a few pages, get annoyed and go do something else for a while. This is why books take me forever to finish these days. Ah well. . . Maybe there's a good twist at the end. Doubtful. . .

Getting predictable. Making me sad. They had an amazing world with astonishing unique monsters but we roll out the man as monster, manifest destiny, we may not have the right but we have the power. Blah, blah, blah.
I'm at 70%, I'll finish it but I'm betting I know where it goes. 😕

My god this book is dragging. I really don't like stories that split their viewpoints between different arcs. Just as one story gets interesting we jump to another view. The political plotting and chatter of the Magisterium I find mind numbingly boring. I loved the first trilogy and Lyra's Oxford and even the first book of this set was interesting. I feel like this is never going to end!

This is not as good as the first series. The story plods along slowly from one moment of excitement then slooowly through the next few dozen pages until there's once again something interesting to read, I like it. But I keep getting a bit bored and putting it down to find something else to read.

Have you ever started a book, maybe struggled with the style of prose at first then suddenly you're in deep and the words bypass you eyes, page to brain. That's this book. A horrible event happens in its pages saddened, expecting to shortly face "The End" was was elated to find I was only 32% of the way, five more hours in this universe.

I'm struggling some with this. I really have to like a protagonist to truly get into a book and at the start I found him intriguing, interesting and somewhat tragic. Then we begin to get dribs and drabs of his back story, how he treats wildlife and. . . I'm beginning to hate the little psychopath. There's so little, and shrinking page by page, to like about anyone in this book. I'm going to plod on a while longer.

Barely into the book and I'm dropped out of the story and I already begin to doubt the veracity of the story. The protagonist gets into the back seat of a drug dealer's El Camino. . . The BACK seat of a car that's a car/pickup hybrid and has no back seat? Seriously?
Now I'm supposed to read on believing this is a true story? Here's hoping I don't get ripped out of the story flow again.

See! Good books suck! I just started this and I'm already a full third of the way through. At this rate I have finished the book in a couple of days. It took me more than a week to get 33% through King's latest. And although this book only has half the pages I'm going to finish in a quarter of the time and best. . . or worst depending on how you look at it I'm enjoying this immensely! And it will be gone too soon.

Kindle reports just under seven hours to go while new book continue to pile up. This has become a struggle. I wonder if it will be the 2nd fiction novel from King I don't finish. Reading should be enjoyable. I'm not enjoying this.

So far it's like Stephen and Owen each wrote their own story about whatever they felt like. Then, when they were done they took both manuscripts, shuffled them randomly together and handed the results to the publisher saying "We dare you to print it." And the publisher shrugged and said "People will buy your grocery lists. . ." and he printed this. I'm so cofused. It's all over the place and yet, I'll keep reading.

Started on the 11th (always remember) hurricane Irma delayed updates. Typos get worse as the series goes on. Plus a little too much copying plots from the X-Men movies. Hopefully this fourth book ends the trilogy.

Man, I wish Cory Doctorow didn't write the near future so accurately and so damn bleak. It's not ka future I want to see come to fruition. His books aren't horror stories and yet they scare me more than any horror novel ever has.

I'm a little over a quarter of the way through the book and it has got to get betterl soon or this is going in the DNF pile.
I've spent countless hours wandering around the woods over many decades so when a character is climbing a rocky, vine covered, trail and has to stop several times to remove leeches from her legs it it just rips me out of the flow of the story. Leeches live in water not on rocky trails.
