I think I'm about to give up on this one, if I wrote a content warning for just the first 22% I'd need a few paragraphs. I'm hoping that this is a deliberate style choice and there will be some serious retribution for a whole host of truly unlikable characters, but I'm not sure I can stomach much more.

Laura is starting Peter and the Vampires
I am definitely intrigued, considering the description references such a wide variety of books (Harry Potter, Ender's Game, the Goosebumps series, and It) that have little in common. I have a feeling I am going to be disappointed.

Not very far in, but the dialogue is really getting to me. The writing is not bad, except when the characters are talking...oof. And I'm not sure I am digging the plot.

I am barely into this book, and I hate the writing. A lot. After reading the word 'dame' at least 50 times, I had to get that off my chest.

the breastfeeding section of this book is pissing me off - after spending forever extolling the virtues, it provides a few reasons why you may not breastfeed...ending each one with an, 'of course you can still have this benefit if you choose to breastfeed', with an implied "which is obviously the superior option" after every sentence.

I'm not really getting the hype about this book - it wastes a lot of space on really repetitive themes (a whole chapter on eating healthy?) and there are way too many sales pitches for other books in the franchise.

I am going through this (and other) books pretty slowly, but this is my favorite so far. For me it strikes a good balance of providing information without fear-mongering or pushing natural/home/midwife-assisted births. There is a balanced presentation of all options, but there is a good effort to keep you from feeling guilty should you choose meds or not to breastfeed, which I really appreciate.

Laura is finished with Your Pregnancy Week by Week: Updated 6th Edition
I figure I should write this now since I won't be done til October! The layout is really helpful because it breaks it up into really digestible pieces, and keeps you on track with what you should be concerned with that week, turning an overwhelming experience into something much more manageable. I also really like the inclusion of an appropriate exercise every week.

This is the fourth book I've read in the past month or so that has mentioned bougainvillea; before that, I had never heard of the stuff. What is the deal with that?

It's getting better, or at least I'm reading it faster. I hate to say it, but I will be glad when this book is over!

I just started this because a friend of mine recommended it at dinner, and it's going really slowly. I am going to give it a shot, partly because I trust the friend and partly because I am compelled to finish books...but wow, I am just not finding it interesting.

I just downloaded this from the Kindle Prime lending library for free. Going to add it here, I'm looking at the cover and thinking that maybe this book is not what I expected...

I am really enjoying it so far; I read some other reviews complaining about how whiney and overly descriptive Louis is, but I don't mind and I think it really adds to the understanding of his character. I really liked the movie but I am having a hard time remembering how it ends (except the very end), which makes this part of the book a little more interesting than the parts leading up to their meeting Armand.

The writing is so terrible in this book, and some things are just so ridiculous- the President? the Director of the CIA? suuuuure. It's also a bit racist - lots of xenophobic refences to Afghanistan and Russia. I just started this today, not sure if I will finish it.

So far this is the best free Kindle book I've read, I'm kind of sad that it will be over soon! it's also pretty long for a freebie

I'm having a really hard time getting through this book. It seems that all of the free Kindle books I've downloaded recently have been overtly religious and/or supernatural and it's getting tiresome.
