This is the fourth book I've read in the past month or so that has mentioned bougainvillea; before that, I had never heard of the stuff. What is the deal with that?

I just started this because a friend of mine recommended it at dinner, and it's going really slowly. I am going to give it a shot, partly because I trust the friend and partly because I am compelled to finish books...but wow, I am just not finding it interesting.
