Robin is on page 97 of When a Lioness Hunts (A Lion's Pride, #8)
Note to author: Protagonists are supposed to be decent (likeable) people. Callously consigning a human to death for no reason beyond their convenience is not a likeable quality. The usual funny banter that I like about this author, but this is the second series that took a wrong turn with heroes/heroines becoming unlikeable to the point where I want to see them die. Still debating if I'm going to finish this.

Very, very slow to get started. Chapter 3 somewhat gets things going, but honestly you could skip the first 50 pages of this book and not miss a beat. It does improve to the usual Langlais style and quality at that point and thus far into it. The beginning of the book gave me the feeling that Langlais either didn't have a strong feeling for Tomas or she was starting to lose interest in the series with this book.

I'm calling this a DNF. Too much WTF and too little LOL. In TV terms, for me this is a 'Jump the Shark' for this series. Very disappointing.

This may be the first Lynsay Sands book to be a DNF for me. There was so much WTF in chapter 1 that I couldn't see how this story was going to improve. By the end of the second chapter with yet more WTFs, I think this is going to be a 'Jump the Shark' for this series. If you're a fan of the series, get it from a library instead of paying for it-- I'm starting to wish I had.

Very disappointing, I've read pretty much everything she's written (I have the entire Others series in paperback sitting on my bookshelf) and this book doesn't even read like Warren's usual. The humor is absent, the beating of proverbial dead horses is rampant and instead of a train of thought, we're trapped on a conceptual tugboat meandering around on an ocean of quicksand. I'm not even sure I want to finish this.

Just finished 'His Bear Hands'--worth the price of the anthology itself. I thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. The h and H were interesting and 'real' (Zoe in particular as the h here was my favorite), the secondary characters were interesting as well with potential for future stories. The writing was solid and it had a fairly decent plot for a short story. I'd give this story 5 stars.

Dragon's Succubus-a germ of a decent plot but a major fail in executing it. It was disjointed, confusing and even worse dialogue written in Scottish dialect than story 1 (unreadable in places). It also needed serious editing: Note to author-- living beings come from good stock, plants come from good stalk unless you're talking about a pod person, which you weren't.

Highland Wolf Pact-- Authors really shouldn't try to write stories set in medieval Scotland (or England) without proper knowledge. Note to author--the daughter of an English earl is NOT a viscountess (the son of an earl is not even necessarily a viscount). So many historical errors and badly written Scottish dialogue to boot. That said, it had a very unique origin for werewolves and good writing technique-wise.

Classic Julia Quinn, delightful addition to the Bridgerton stories--more of a prequel, since it takes place before the previous Bridgerton stories, but enjoyable nonetheless.

I'm exceedingly disappointed thus far. As much as I love this series, I doubt I'll actually finish this one. It reads like she turned her focus to a different genre then tried to come back and throw out another book in this series without bothering to reacquaint herself with this world she created. I really don't like the dynamic between the H and h either--doesn't work on many levels.

I've officially given up on this one. I put it aside and read a couple of other books but I just don't want to go back to this one--so I'm not. A woman intent on her independence spending TWO DAYS wandering around a small town looking for someone to show her where her property is obviously not able to be independent.

Now 50% through and still frustrated with a side of boredom. The story seems to be treading the proverbial water.

I'm disappointed thus far. I've enjoyed other books by this author but this heroine is TSTL. Lucy is hard-headed and soft-hearted to the point of idiocy. Her behavior repeatedly reflects the concept of cutting off one's nose to spite one's face. She may have aspirations of being an independent woman, but she desperately needs a keeper. Frustrating but not bad enough to stop reading . . . yet.

OMG--second story Bears in Wonderland--a council kidnapped their own clan princess, took her memories and forced her to work as a stripper to bring her mate, the clan alpha, to heel. They confess this to him and he meekly goes to find her (so not alpha). Epic fail. I was too annoyed by the story's set-up to get any further than the first chapter although I did skip to the end and it actually got worse.

First story not bad, just a cute Christmas story for the most part.

So the stories are either really good--Releasing her Dragon and Ice, or really not good--all of the others with three more stories to read. Note to writers, 110 years is not a time span in which villages and events are going to be completely forgotten and archaeologists will get excited about digging up evidence of. Also, magic life-saving body fluids of an adult nature? Really?

Just finished reading Ice by Skye Jones. Outstanding story, aside from a few editing issues, practically perfect. Strong characters, especially the female lead, interesting storyline with a lot of action. Felt more like a book in its own right as opposed to a short story in an anthology.
