I've been trying to revisit this series for like, seven years. Unfortunately, a couple of other series have my attention, and I will probably pause reading this for now.

Really enjoying this one. Sooo many classic/repeated tropes, but I'm enjoying the characters, the plot pacing is nice, and the hints at things unknown/various mysteries keeps you engaged. :D

Yes. This is starting out VERY nicely. I am absolutely NOT bored (reference to previous update on another book DNFed). :D

BORED. So bored. Going to DNF, sadly. :/

This book is a perfect example of how side characters can really flesh out a story and make it more awesome with their substance.

But so help me, if one more person 'laughs through their nose'.... :P

Liking this so far! I'm intrigued by some of the mysteries still present (like who some of the mysterious characters are, what Lena's special power will be, etc.).

Really enjoying this one. It's definitely a world-building, info-heavy foundation-laying book at the front of a series. Still, I'm enjoying how the information is being handled and how characters are being presented.

Hating every second of this. Only reading it to get to The Ascended, but I'm hating the writing so much I don't know that it's worth finishing and reading Duskbound, just to get to a 758-page book that I will also hate. :(
I think I'll take a break, read something else, and maybe revisit it later.

I'm having a heck of a time. Everything is just sooo....excessively saccharine. Everyone who meets the FMC LOVES her and thinks she's just unbelievably wonderful. EVERYONE. The nicknames - they're distracting and pull me out of the story (Luci for LUCIFER - the head honcho of Hell??) Conversations feels like the most PC, self-help, therapy speak I've ever read - it's unrealistic and hard to connect with.

Loving this mix of characters and interesting world of magic so far....

Wish I'd reread the first book before diving into this one. It's still fantastic, but it could be loads better. I've forgotten so many characters, so much of the history and conflict. I feel like I've shortchanged myself by not having it all fresh in my mind. :(

That's my word of advice to anyone looking to read this one a long time after having read the first!

The premise of this book intrigued me as it's pretty different from my usual pickings. It's been kind of slow to start but I've never been bored or felt like stopping, it's just a different pace than what I'm used to. Once I accepted that it became a much more pleasant read and perfect timing really, as it's starting to get really good. I'm invested in the characters and the atmosphere has been amazing.

My kingdom for a few more hours each day to work on finishing this fine piece of literary genius! It's so painful...the pull to gulp it down all at once while at the same time wanting to savor every sentence. Cruel! ;)

For the love of all that's holy - I don't know why but I'm having the hardest time finishing this book. I plowed through most of it but these last 100 pages are KILLING me. I'm not sure why! But I refuse to not finish it when I've invested this much already. Need to get it done so I can start Earth's End!

Had to stop reading last night at 12:17 am - couldn't see straight anymore! Looking forward to finishing this today and really thankful the next installment comes out in 2 weeks. Already have it pre-ordered for my Kindle. :D
