I'm having a heck of a time. Everything is just sooo....excessively saccharine. Everyone who meets the FMC LOVES her and thinks she's just unbelievably wonderful. EVERYONE. The nicknames - they're distracting and pull me out of the story (Luci for LUCIFER - the head honcho of Hell??) Conversations feels like the most PC, self-help, therapy speak I've ever read - it's unrealistic and hard to connect with.

That’s great because I am bored at the 50% mark. ;-P Maybe I am in a mood, but I am not finding much of a plot so far. Loved the beginning though.

Yes! It definitely went through phases for me. I think I was interested up until about 30%, then I was just annoyed until that halfway point. Took a break, came back and pushed through, then at about the 70% mark I started to actually feel engaged. I'll admit though, I did A LOT of skimming. 😅 I just wanted it to be finished. There's SO MUCH going on throughout this entire book on multiple levels (even if there's not much of a plot - I agree with you there). It's like you can tell this never started out as a traditional book that the author wanted to write - it definitely gives the vibes of something that developed in chunks elsewhere (aka Tik Tok).
