Moving along better now. 36-82 took me about an hour. Maybe I DNF'd this when I first tried because I didn't actually get into the story. I now recognize the characters and scenes, I am really enjoying it.

It took me an hour to read 36 pages. 😅

So much arguing.

She’s preaching again. She’s not wrong but she is preaching.

Vanessa is coming across as a female version of male characters I don’t like. 🤣

He devoured fasting as a man devours food. He plunged after poverty as men have dug madly for gold. And it is precisely the positive and passionate quality of this part of his personality that is a challenge to the modern mind in the whole problem of the pursuit of pleasure.

It may be an excellent thing that cracks should be filled up, but preferably not by somebody who is himself cracked…

As an aside, this edition is bad. So many typos/redundant words.
