So far there have been two mentions of how light skin the FMC is, and in the span of a few pages 2 Chris Brown songs played, one featuring Danni Leigh. I'm really looking at this author sideways

It's an interesting choice to have a book subtitled with the names of your main characters and begin the book with the POV of a secondary character. It's a few pages until D-Nice comes in. No Baby yet

A slow start but I'm making progress. I'm not sure about this. He bullied her with his friends becsuse she's poor. He had to be told to be nicer to her by the athletic director. She's starting to like him now, so I'm hoping he does more to redeem himself.

So this other woman just attacked the MFC and claimed the MMC as hers, and his response after the MFC leaves is to have sex with her. He is not smart.

Idk...I think I'm going to pause reading right here. I'm just not feeling this one. He's a prince married to a princess. It's reuired he produce an heir by a certain time, but they didn't give his wife a fertility test BEFORE the marriage? And why did they not explore in vitro before surrogacy?

I saw it coming from a mile away, but I didn't want it to be true. She hasn't had sex with anyone since the breakup. Ugh. *eye roll* It's been NINE YEARS!

Full disclosure: I am hate reading this book for every reason that is in the sample. He cheated on her long enough to "fall in love" with the other woman and she walked in on it. It goes downhill from there. Nine years later he's engaged to the other woman (who is cheating on him) and she's single and still in love with him. This is all shown in the sample. I'm so thankful I got this through the library.

Skipped the Jack and the Beanstalk retelling. It didn't grab me. It seemed like I should have known more about the world than what was being shown.

If the Louboutin Fits (Cinderella retelling)

Get an editor. This story was also way too much like a giant corporation's version. Because of that, it seemed the author couldn't decide when to have magic, and the story didn't make much sense. For instance, stepmother's motto is to marry and divorce rich men, but for some unclear reason she kills Ella's father.
