He is mortal. She is an immortal time-traveling cyborg. Time travel here has one rule: history cannot be changed. Their love is doomed. Even without the star-crossed language, I've read this before they won't go on the run in Renaissance Europe. They dont get another 50 years.

The reading becomes more unbearable as the inevitable conclusion nears.

I'd forgotten how sardonically funny and distinct Medoza was. All this time I assumed I loved her because she was a redhead.

Story #1: Neutron Star

Three stars. Its a mystery in the style of the old sci fi--and I just realized, because it IS an old story. A human pilot is hired by the Puppetteer megacorp, General Products, to investigate what damaged one of their ships. My first intro to the Puppeteers (I've only knew of them via cultural osmosis) and Generao Products. Promising intro to Niven's Known Space.

Also, it took 10 years for me to develop object permanence because the shelf with this book was hidden behind a laundry basket filled with winter clothing; I finally moved it and discovered I'd forgotten about an entire series.

Ten years. I bought this 10 years ago but I'm only just now getting to it because the introduction is 1) boring and 2) in really long print. But I'm 10 years older and I've reached a sort of maturity where I can finally just skip the introduction and go straight to the story.

Stapelschuldgefühl: the feeling of guilt experienced when buying new books, even though you have a stack of unread books at home.

Does anyone know if theres a word for "I've not only run out of shelf space, I've run out of house-space for more bookshelves!"

I just got the pun. Team spirit! It's about a ghost haunting the football pitch.

"How did you two meet?"

"He saved my life. I was an ex-special forces with PTSD and begging on the streets ..."

This has got to be comedy, right? Or a very earnest action hero comic written for Andrew Tate fans.

Okay, having a party in the sci-fi castle, with thin starving and terrified peasants outside the castle gates should've been clued me in, but now Luke is wearing a gothic blouse (with ruffles!). This is totally a vampire story.

I came here to add two books so I wouldn't forget about them. I got so excited over the first that the second has completely slipped my mind.

chvang is starting Foxglove Summer (Peter Grant, #5)
Victoria Lacy was just introduced when the Imperial March segment of "Overcoming the Past" from the Obi-Wan Kenobi theme started blaring. If she turns out to be the villain, I'm ... I don't know, celebrating with a Star Wars marathon?

This is the best kind of children's story, the kind that doesn't dumb things down for children.

Lovecraftian horror for the information age. Not the best, storywise; brilliant concepts, though.

I didn't mean to start a new book, I was just curious about how you would write about ideas that resisting spread. Before you know it, I'd read two chapters and just had to know more.
