Jeyne Poole is supposed to be Sansa's age WTF Catelyn? Why would Robb kiss her? He's 14 at the start of the story he's not kissing an eleven year old girl.

Also there's that whole "Dany having sex with Drogo while he is ambiguously alive". I mean, is he just disabled? Is he a zombie? I don't know but either way it's wrong. Noncon or necrophilia that's just wrong.

Jon tries to leave the Night's Watch for his brother, but is successfully guilted back to the cult by his side character friends. I fucking hate the Night's Watch plot.

Poor Sansa is now reaping the consequences of her actions. Joffrey has essentially discarded his charming little front and she is now about to enter a life as his punching bag.

Yeesh. Way to make your heroine sound like a supervillain.

After rescuing Etta Candy, Diana then proceeds to body-shame her and her sorority sisters, but thankfully Etta Candy doesn't put up with that. The military then asks Trevor what happened, but Trevor doesn't tell them about Paradise Island.

Then Diana walks in and says that:

"this broken man's world must submit to the merciful authority of the wonder women of Amazonia".

No, the toxic part is when the alpha male treats the heroine like crap.

When he repeatedly ignores the heroines boundaries and/or wishes because he thinks he knows what's best.

Not liking being unable to function independently (albeit temporarily) is not the same as alpha male bulletin, Hannah.

I don't really like the way she's just able to push Xander's wishes aside like this.

You know, it would be interesting to see how Xander reacts to the human world's depiction of mermaids. You know, because worldbuilding.

Instead of just naked, transparent foreshadowing of Xanders' dad.

Ma'am, there's learning to live a little, and then there's teaching the super-naive merman gambling-which apparently does not exist in his culture.

Oh, and yeah, this merman is also your employee who relies on you for safety.

We are now introduced to Etta Candy, and for some reason, I think the narrative is trying to imply that she ate a bunch of food meant for charity.

This whole book feels like a caricature of feminism. Like some misogynist's IDEA of feminism, and not the real thing.

So Diana has melodramatically discovered that *gasp* women die in "Men's world", and that there is warfare. And in doing so, essentially, ironically, acts the way real-life misogynists act towards women.

She assumes she has expertise she clearly doesn't, condescends to everyone around her, and when the military inexplicably attacks for...some reason, proceeds to call the very male soldiers "girls".

He gets both Robb Stark AND a match with Arya? Catelyn is not very good at haggling.

We are about to get Robb betrothed to a Frey girl, all to cross a bridge

"Meekly submit to the capture of a woman" what the he'll was Tyrion SUPPOSED to do? Fight his way through all of Catelyns guards and bannermen? Even if he was able-bodied like Jaime, what does he do with Catelyn? He'd be starting a war either way.

The plot has raced ahead at lightning speed and now we're back with Tyrion who is still with the mountain tribesmen... except he's built a minor army of them offscreen somehow

Also, she's killing a mail carrier because she stole a motorcycle from the TERFS. Which, by her own pseudo-feminist standards, makes her arguably just as patriarchal as the men preceding her.

Granted, she seems to acknowledge this when it comes to the idea of "barking orders", but I'm pretty sure that's just a means of manipulating Hero and not true introspection.

It's very interesting how the faux-feminist TERF leader tries to deconstruct the insult "cunt" as some sort of empowering "divine feminine" nonsense, but the minute she's called a bitch, she orders the girl killed. And then calls her a whore.

She only bothers to deconstruct the misogyny behind classic insults when it suits her.

Also, as I predicted, she's wrong about the word cunt's etymology.

Yorick's sister is one of the Amazons? His SISTER?

No. That's stupid. What we've seen of her personality indicated that she was a relatively decent woman who happened to get slut-shamed by her peers on occassion.

She literally lost the love of her life to the disease-why would she turn to the Amazons?

We finally have a Wall plot that doesn't involve a vulnerable 14-year-old boy being slowly inducted into a cult. Well, Jon has technically finally become part of the cult now, but still.

Instead, we get to have Jon save Mormont from a White Walker.

Although, the Republicans' attempted coup and straight-up disregarding the constitution is once again scarily prescient.

Considering that the Republican women straight-up attempted a coup because they couldn't inherit their husbands' seats...even though that's illegal, I'd say they DO deserve to be "lectured by a self-righteous child".

Also, Madam President, you later call them a disgrace to the party, so...

in positive language. No, a world ruled by women would NOT result in everyone "holding hands at the United Nations", because women are HUMAN.

And humans are often greedy, selfish, warmongering, and ambitious creatures.

Gender identity and or sex characteristics don't change that.

I do like that Mr. Vaughan specifically takes time to address the viewpoint that women are somehow less capable of being power-hungry than men, and immediately refute it through the Republican widows.

This is a viewpoint I have heard women who considers themselves feminists utter completely unironically, and it is categorically not true. It's nothing more than a stereotype of women's passivity dressed up

I mean, it's probs not the real Echidna, but no sensible ancient Greek person should be trying to wake the "mother of monsters".

That's a trap this book could very easily have fallen into, and that many "Lady Land" books (looking at you, Earth-One Wonder Woman) have in fact become.

So, kudos for dressing the female characters in a variety of outfits and not making them all sex objects.

I do find the treatment of what is technically sexual assault to be very disturbing, however. Yorick just escapes and zero mention is made of the fact that she grabbed his balls without consent. We just cut to the president assuming office.

Although, as a plus, I do like that the women are so far being depicted with interiority and complexity. They don't feel like sex objects to be ogled, which is nice.

Which is strange, because Vaughan is skilled enough that you can tell his views in other areas.

We know, for example, that he doesn't have a high opinion of pro-lifers, especially not female pro-lifers. Because he made Yorick's mom one, and it's made clear that neither Yorick nor his sister have any respect for his mom's political beliefs.

He even has the hypocritical male Democrat be disgusted by Yorick's mom.

Then again, her morals have disappeared enough in such a short time that she's willing to resort to slavery, so maybe she viewed him as a sex object.

In that case, that is brilliant writing on Vaughan's part. Except not really, because I honestly tell if it's a case of Vaughan not knowing better or the character not knowing better.

I do find that our model sexually assaulting the hero to prove he's a "real" man to be massively sexist, though. And creepy.

She also chooses to sell him as a slave, but I'm not qualified to speak on human trafficking issues or its portrayal in fiction, so I won't.

What I am qualified to say is that if she was voluntarily dating a trans man, maybe her view of masculinity should be different.
