And yes, Ms. Dade, fat people often do have fraught relationships with exercise, thanks to fat-shaming.

But fat people, like everyone else, also do exercise for non-weight loss related reasons like: having fun, because it's an opportunity to socialize, mental health benefits, to make their muscles stronger, or even just to wake up in the morning.

Like, the guy probably eats oatmeal, hard-boiled eggs and fruit b/c he's a gym bro, not because he thinks you need to lose weight!

Would he have even asked you out in the first place if he agreed with the fat-shamers? Would he have even responded to that comment thread in the first place?

Girl, not every invitation to work out is about fat-shaming. You have way too much of a complex about it.

April is kind of reading as incredibly insecure right now.

Also, April reacting this badly to a casual gym hangout probably makes fat people look worse overall.

After slogging through Zodiac Academy, it's nice to see the main characters being attracted to the other party's brains/intelligence/personality.

So many authors-of all stripes and genres-seem to think that good looks is all it takes to make a main character appealing.

Also, there's this thing where Tea and Vea are objectified but Geralt just seems...bored with it. Bored with their objectification and male gaze narration.

So far, Yennefer has been weirdly mad about the hookup Geralt had with her last book, made a weird conversation about nature with the other wizard on the dragon-slaying trip.

But this holy knight Eyck guy is now proving himself a glorified bigot, so I prefer Yennefer now.

After they tried to kill the twins, the Heirs have FINALLY gotten some form of consequences for their actions! In the form of... detention.

But still. When creepy-ass Orion is looking like the good guy in this scenario, you know you screwed up writing your male leads.

On second thought, they've ALSO told her they dont want to be queens of Solaria and yet she made Silver badges for the pro-royalist side anyway. So she doesn't care about boundaries any more than the rest of Zodiac Academy does. Still doesn't condone wishing the Heirs would bully her tho

I'm betting that Orion, Darius and the heirs aren't ACTUALLY plotting to kill the heroines, but are talking about the Nymphs that keep being brought up.
Not that it matters. Bcuz Peckham & Valenti seem to think that slapping abs on a character + implying a backstory of abuse is enough to make a man hot no matter HOW many times they violate the heroine's consent

I get your point, Ms. Tardy, but any all-Black school staffed by all-White teachers that genuinely produced good grades would ALREADY be aware of the problems inherent in all-White staff.

And any respectable educator would know that. Do they think good grades come in a vacuum?

Those superintendents were not asking in good faith. they were trying to assuage their white guilt.

She's mentioned AI's bias only once and doesn't seem to recognize that the AI bubble is a thing, and seems to believe AI is more than a fad.

AI does not necessarily equal tech, Ms. Tardy.

Okay, he's less of an asshole now with the context of paying off his daughter's financial difficulties, but it was still a bad thing for him to say. Not just a good example of "different lived experiences".

If he really understood the struggle of young adults starting out, he'd be willing to fork out more for your salary.

I get what you're saying, but asking you if you can "just ask your parents for money" to cover the bills is insulting regardless of race.

It also speaks of an inherent capitalist laziness and refusal to pay people what they're worth. And a lack of concern for the next generation.

It's naive to think our capitalist hellscape could EVER allow workers to "bring their whole selves" into the workplace, something I learn more and more each day.

But otherwise this book is good.

You shouldn't need to remind yourself that a member of a historically oppressed group is a person. Or society around you.

We don't go referring to women as "people of the female gender" to remind us that women are people, no? Anyone who did that would rightly be castigated as a misogynist.

I do agree with the principle of "ask people how they prefer to talk about themselves". Too many privileged people do the exact opposite. For example, the insistence on person-first language amongst NT people SOUNDS progressive, up unto you realize that the autistic community, by and large, does not actually like it. Specifically, autistics feel that if you need to be reminded of our personhood with special words...

But otherwise, yeah, I agree with you, Ms. Tardy.

Sansa is essentially experiencing the cycle of abuse and IPV at the tender age of 11 with zero guidance or notion of how to handle that.
